Think on that last bit…

best,

The next question goes to Mr.Paul as he found out the B-45 Tornado but could it be RAF Sculthorpe?I cannot find anything about Belgium but No.342(Lorraine) squadron was based there. Before that No.464 squadron RAAF and No.487 sqn. RNZAF.B-45s were at Sculthorpe from 1952 until 1957.

The only link to Belgium I can find is that RAF Sculthorpe is now part of the STANTA training area which also occupies a location at Gentbrugge, Belgium. This does not meet the "home team" part of the question. I regularly drive though the area and was there yesterday - no Belgium's to be seen.

I’ll say Giampiero has it, but if he is happy @Paul821 please take the next question.

BTW, you should look up more 😜 I’m staying in Walsingham at the moment, and for the last few days, a couple of Belgian A400s have been based at Sculthorpe, flying repeated circuits and approaches over my head around North Norfolk, sometimes out over Wells, around the Wash… The Sculthorpe Heritage FB page has a post about their arrival from a couple of days back. The thing that surprised me was that for a good while in the late-40s and 50s, Sculthorpe was the largest USAF base in Europe, with over 10,000 airmen based there. That’s a small town in among Norfolk villages even before you factor in families… And don’t get me started on the very spook-y recce missions with crews from one nation flying another nation’s aircraft…

best,

M.

We were staying on the North Norfolk coast so had the usual run of F-15's and F-35's along with the occasional tanker overhead. The Sculthorpe Visitor centre is a great place to visit and the history of SENTA is hardly recorded.

As to a question what links:

Is the Television quiz show also showing in other countries or only in the UK?

I feel it's a bit early to start giving clues as two of the clues are fairly easy, two are more cryptic. As to the TV programme Wikipedia says domestic versus have been show in a number of countries including Netherlands and Belgium. A simple online search will list long running UK quiz shows.

The first three are all names of Aircraft types.

From what I found the second could be the Hadrian transport glider?

Correct

From this two of the others should be easy, although one might need a fair English vocabulary.

To speed this up add in

A mythical Anglo-Saxon leader to the initial list

Horsa or perhaps Hengist? I do not see a clear connection between answers, though. Wikipedia tells me that Horsa is an old English word for horse. Emperor Hadrian had to deal with transporting horses across English Channel and it could be said both Horsa and Hadrian gliders transported light vehicles with many "horses" in their engines over the same route. The same goes for Carvair DC-4 conversion, which brings in Freddie Laker. However, I have no idea about the TV quiz part. A bit of a stretch, I addmit. Cheers

I found Alfred the Great who is described as the most famous and celebrated Anglo Saxon king.A list with British TV quiz shows came up with at least a hundred names from the 50s until today.

@Jure Miljevic  has the correct answers within his post. Just the Laker link.to find. Nothing to do with horses though.

Alfred the Great was not mythical - sorry @GiampieroSilvestri. As to the TV show it is still made and shown today. I doubt it anyone will get the early propeller less plane, so just concentrate on Laker and the TV show.

Added clue TODAY was deliberately used here.

Sorry the TODAY reference will make more sense to those in the UK and it will not be a clue tomorrow.

An additional clue (or is it two)

Planes with names that start with consecutive letters of the alphabet and the names are US states.

A internet search showed a quiz show called mastermind.

There sre at least 10 quiz shows on Mondays in the UK on the main 5 channels, Mastermind is not the that answers the question.

This is the 7th day this question has been up with only @Jure Miljevic and @GiampieroSilvestri making suggestions, neither of whom live in the UK and I guess for whom English is not their first language. Therefore the long running quiz is Uniiversity Challenge. In English a word for a match between colleges is a Varsity match. That just leaves the two states and the Laker answer for the full answer. I very much doubt if anyone will get early propeller less plane - which is a jet.
