@GiampieroSilvestri although Belgium was obvious from the clues, I really had no idea about the comic books and was trying to find real pilots!

Another one, please..

Matt

I am sorry!Mick Tanguy and Buck Danny are very popular here in Germany so I thought they are also known in Britain.

To the question. You better do not fly with John and Gordon.

Another tip:It is a British light aircraft.

From the tips i'd say Planet Satellite / Firth Helicopter, but I haven't got a clue what you were on about with the initial question

That is correct! The manufacturer of the aircraft was owned by distillers company which makes Johnny Walker and Gordons dry gin.

Where are the Belgians currently the home team, following in the footsteps of the Free French, the ANZACs, a small town of Atomic Americans, and locals suffering diversions due to road works…?

The question broken down...

Where are the Belgians currently the home team,

following in the footsteps of

the Free French, - implies 1940-1945 era

the ANZACs, - WW1? although the Anzac name was used in WW2 & Vietnam

a small town of Atomic Americans, - Los Alamos, New Mexico; Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and Richland, Washington are small towns associated with the first A-bomb

locals suffering diversions due to road works…? - No idea of possible links.

+ Tornado's - seems to link to a base associated with plane of this name. Most likely the recent/current plane of that name but could be the B-45
