cmatthewbacon Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Three displays based on classic 1960s boys' magazine covers in a tribute to legendary Airfix box artist and illustrator Roy Cross, who died this year aged 100. If you're attending Scale Model World this year, you'll find the real things, and me (I'm the one with no hair, rather than lots of it...), on the Classic British Kits SIG table... The second picture, from the higher angle, is the best representation of how the real magazine covers look. best, M. 40 7
Potsie Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 An absolutely marvellous tribute! Would love the opportunity to see these in person, but might be a bit far for me to get to Telford this year! 1
Donald Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 A magnificent collection and a very fitting tribute to the late Roy Cross. 1
keefr22 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 All three are just superb Matt, really great idea, brilliantly executed! I regret not being at Telford this year as I would also really love to see them for real! Top work! Keith 1
Bengalensis Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Amazing idea and equally well executed, top points in my book! 1
Pete in Lincs Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Matt, a great tribute. They look fabulous. 1
Bobby No Mac Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Truly wonderful and evocative of a long lost era 1
Spiny Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 They all look excellent to me, although there is part of me that worries the two end ones in particular will roll off their stands! Definitely three worth showing off in a couple of weeks. 1
Neddy Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 A great project, meticulously executed and a superb result. I look forward to seeing them - and you - at Telford. 1
Noel Smith Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Will be at Telford on the Sunday. Look forward to seeing these and say hello. Will you have the C1 Sebring MGC with you? I know it's not a British classic kit as Sun but would like to see that one too after following your build. Cheers Noel
cherry268 Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Lovely models, look forward to seeing them in the flesh 1

AlxBNE Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 I really liked seeing each individual model but seeing all three together is awesome. A great tribute. Very well done. 1
klubman01 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 As others have already said, great models and excellent presentation. Trevor 1
Toftdale Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Top models and after seeing how you have displayed them I can't imagine another way of doing it, they simply look right - Andy 1
cjhm Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Superb work Matt, looking forward to seeing these ‘in the plastic’ at Telford (and hoping you finish the W196 too!) 👍 1
Natter Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 I see your name against a topic, and even before I open it I know it is going to be superb. Once again, I am not disappointed. Good luck to you and the CBK 'crew' at SMW. 1 1
kiseca Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Those looks fantastic! It took me a while to work out what I was actually looking at. I thought at first those were just the magazine covers for inspiration and I was waiting for the images of the models to show up 😆. It's a great idea, and well executed too. 1
cmatthewbacon Posted November 8, 2024 Author Posted November 8, 2024 And here they are in place on our display at Scale Model World: best, M. 8
