alt-92 Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Carry on! Kits from SuperHobby, and KASL's resin IFF bird-slicers from BNA (and some mask sets) The KASL IFF bits are tiny but a godsend if you have some older Hasegawa F-16s around and want to make them more up to date. 6
Karearea Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Perhaps inspired by the speculation thread elsewhere, a very faded Arma Hobby Yak-1 box while visiting the local hobby shop. 3
PhantomBigStu Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 (edited) Nothing. Decline to purchase in a rare foray into hobbycraft as there was basically nothing I couldn't get from local later in the day baring an academy Catalina which I still declined, of course I only forgot my bike lock havign left it too late in the day to make a return trip home and back, hopefully I can edit this with something tomorrow, edit couldn’t find the kits I’d hoped they had one of which is for a GB so the river people will provide that, but I did get a Hasegawa skyhawk to do as an Israeli one at some point Edited October 24, 2024 by PhantomBigStu 1
Karearea Posted October 23, 2024 Posted October 23, 2024 A couple of decal sets, the Armycast Skyhawks sheet that @stevehnz brought to my attention a few weeks back, and DK’s Slovak National Uprising sheet that gets me an interesting 15th AF B-17 with tiny pinups all over it and a yellow-tailed P-51C among others. 3
stevehnz Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 From BNA in Aus, a sheet of SBS decals for my Revell/ICM I-153 with 3 x Finnish & 1 captured German schemes. It'll be a Finnish scheme I'll use. Also the Detail & Scale US Aircraft & Armament Gulf War book, rather more than I expected & I'm sure the scale drawings of the various armaments will come in handy. Found at a Kiwi book sellers for a happily modest price. But wait, there's more. The decals were yesterday, the Detail & Scale book was this morning, hand delivered to me by her indoors, half an hour later, a small package with 10 x 0.5mm drills from Franklin Hobbies in the Waikato, plenty of spares seems a good idea. & another 1/2 hour later, the Max Hastings book Nemesis from another Kiwi book shop. The smile was beginning to resemble a grimace. Gonna have to sort something out with my couriers. Steve. 2 5
Bobby No Mac Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 A quite restrained order from Mr Big H: Quite a fan of the Duke Hawkins books and had an eye for this one when it was announced. There are some fantastic pics of the grubby Greek machines - which will come in handy with: And relating to the Meng EA-18G that arrived a few weeks ago: This my first experience of a Furball decal sheet - simply wow, very impressive and printed by Cartograf. 6 1
Rob G Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 A pair of Hasegawa Toyota 2000GTs, the limited release with full engine detail. One street car, one racer. Now to make time to build them... 4
Andy H Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Preparing for my yet-again delayed return to the fray. Well...you can never have too many sharp objects to play with, can you? 8

stevehnz Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 A couple of arrivals, yesterday, from a local, as in NZ, outlet, the Airfix Maserati Indy starter set & from Japan, a Hasegawa Subaru Impreza with the markings for Kiwi rally ace Possum Bourne when he won the Hong Kong to Beijing Rally in 1995. Steve. 2
flyboy2610 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I went to Hobby Lobby last evening for a couple of plastic display cases, and this kit just 'happened' to fall into my basket: I plan to build this for my now 25 yr old son. When he was a teenager he kept saying how he wanted a '67 Mustang. This is the best this ol' poor boy can do! I don't know when I'll get to it, but for now it's safely in the stash. 7
Des Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 From Ali Express Chuan Yu Model Ship CYT185 1/35 T-90 Gun Barrel in aluminium with brass etch detail , bought to replace the not quite straight resin part in a recent sci-fi tank purchase , around £11.50 including VAT and shipping. From Airfix Airfix Club Magazine Issue 12 and 2025 Calendar. Via eBay Aero Album Volume 6 Summer 1969 magazine , to complete a collection , reasonable second-hand magazine price of $4.99 but over four times that for shipping from the USA and that was the cheapest option of several on offer. 1
alt-92 Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 Oddballs, gotta love 'em. And speaking of oddballs: I really need to stop watching Rex's YT videos. It's becoming expensive. Although not as expensive as this could have been 4
Whofan Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 A trip to Birmingham yesterday included a visit to the German Market, and assisting HMV and Waterstones in keeping going; The Ministry set is actually a box set of 5 albums including land of Rape and Honey, a somewhat uncomfortable title for an album, but it is part of the 33 1/3 series of books I have been collecting which meant that I will have it for when the book itself is published next year. Then you;ll see the bio of Wayne Barnes, one of the world's leading rugby referees before he retired recently - I still think Nigel Owen is the best referee I've ever seen in the modern game but Wayne Barnes is very close to him. Then The Who live at Shea Stadium 1982. This was one of the last Who shows to feature Kenney Jones and for some reason I've taken a few months to buy it. Finally John Entwitle Rarities Oxhumed, vol. 2. Vol 1 featured some rare ish material but this one is stretching rarities a bit; a couple of alternative mixes and then 8 live tracks I suspect from a concert recorded probably between 1996 to 1999 This is firmly in the category "I've got the others, I might as well have this". . 1
stevehnz Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 A couple of second hand books, The N A Sabre, by Ray Wagner & The Battle for Antwerp by J.L Moulton. The Sabre book was an add on, NZ$5.00 each for the books & the same for post for 1 or 2. The Sabre book was the only other one that said pick me. The Antwerp story is one that has long had fascination for me. My Uncle is buried on the outskirts of Antwerp & when I was driving tours around Europe in the early 1980s, I traversed Walcheren to catch the Breskens Ferry every time I went down to Calais to pick up a tour party. I was disappointed the Breskens Ferry has ceased to operate as a vehicle ferry when I was there 10 years ago. Steve. 2
TeaWeasel Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I picked up an Italeri XB-70 Valkyrie on a bit of an impulse, starting to regret it somewhat due to the sheer length of the thing. 1 2

I had one of these...they are absolutely huge, even in 1/72 they are a good 2 - 3 foot long!!!!!! Sadly got a little smashed up as didn't have anywhere to store it at the time in my old house.😒 1

I've glued the fuselage lengths together so it won't even go back in the box at this point...
Keeff Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 Well, this arrived today ..... £24.99 .... just about half price! Keith ☺️ 5

Pure nostalgia trip! Oh, and another years worth of building and contents insurance 🙄 Regards, Steve Edited November 8, 2024 by fatfingers 2

Rafale F3-R – The Ultimate Reference Guide book , by Ioannis Lekkis and Ilias Gkonis , recent release by Eagle Aviation , 80 page A4 Landscape format ,180+ image photo-album with English/French captions covering Greek , French , Qatari , Croatian and Indian aircraft in descending coverage with the last two having one page each with 3 and 1 image respectively , much of the book is given over to a close-in detail walkround (mainly of Greek aircraft) and is spectacular in its coverage and quality with for example six portrait format shots from different angles across two pages for the nose undercarriage unit alone. 2
PhantomBigStu Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 2 new pairs of tracksuit bottoms for cycling, slightly ruined two pairs before the summer by being to lazy to change out of them before getting back to modelling with superglue and inevitably getting it on them, nobody would know but I like to have pristine stuff for outside the house 3
