Zoran Srb Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Please don't get me wrong. As an author who invested countless hours in the model, you have absolute power to finish it as you please, but if you are interested in historical accuracy... By the configuration of AA, the model should represent Yamato, as she was on her last sortie. From the battle of Leyte Gulf, Yamato's decks were "blackened", and as the following foto suggests, they were still the same on the last sortie... Use it, or don't, as you please, all the best. 1 1
steve5 Posted November 20, 2024 Author Posted November 20, 2024 there is about 200 figures here , no where near enough , but my patience ran out , 😬 , they are all on the starboard side , which is the displayed side . at least it gives the ship a bit of activity . 10

And 200 is about 200 more than I've ever done. Are they fixed now or just tacked on for the photo? Regards, Jeff. 1
Iceman 29 Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 200 is not bad. I don't blame you, I've put the battleship Bretagne on pause for a while because of that. And I haven't even started to put the sailors on the Bismarck at 1/200, or very little... 😅 1
kiseca Posted November 20, 2024 Posted November 20, 2024 She's really looking lovely and I'm amazed how quickly you are progressing with her! 1 1

Regards, Jeff. they are fixed on jeff , I know sitting down shouldn't happen , but my friends don't know that , did you spot the cheeky guy lying down , and hiding on the aft cannon . 😁 I need a bit of help , I would like to rig the ship , but the stuff I have , infini110 , is too fine, I've heard of easy line , but can't seem to find it . any suggestions , would be greatly appreciated . Steve - good looking build, although I am still ploughing through all the pages. As for easy line - shove EZ Line into Google and you will find the stuff. Do be careful though as the following thread mention it does seem the deteriorate after a while. Depending on the actual thickness you are after you might want to have a look at the lines and yarns used for flyfishing. Fair to say though that all the various materials you can use have their pros and cons. P 1

If you have a Geisha Girl to scale why not hide her on board, maybe on the deck between one of the secondary turrets and the superstructure? But don't tell anybody, let them find her. 😁 But seriously, the crew figures certainly liven up the model, not that it needed that. Regards, Jeff. 2 1
Faraway Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 Those little people really bring this ship to life. And you are really making great progress with this and it is excellent. Jon
Iceman 29 Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 I used EZ Line, Fine ou Heavy, black, some time, Especially for the Bismarck, the rigging was copious. https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4432023.m570.l1313&_nkw=ez+line&_sacat=0 4
steve5 Posted November 21, 2024 Author Posted November 21, 2024 (edited) thanks for the comments guys , you got me looking some form of female now jeff , 😁 that's just the job iceman , ordered and waiting for it to come . might try a little weathering now . Edited November 21, 2024 by steve5 3
Alan P Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 This is looking marvellous. And so quickly too! Regarding EZ line, it's very easy to use and the elasticity allows for nice, tight lines but as the linked post above says, it will dissolve in prolonged exposure to sunlight. Uschi lycra thread is much better long term. 2
steve5 Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) sorry this has taken so long guys . had to wait for the line to get here , I also learned i have a bit to learn on how to use it . thought everything was tight , came back the next day some loose ones , they aren't too bad though , if you squint 😁.
