Page 115 of my book shows drawings (E12/1 and E12/2) of the triple 15.5cm turrets. And not a single scuttle/port hole to be seen. 😁 So my earlier reference to a photo on page 29 may not be relevant, but that last photo supplied by Alain (aka @Iceman 29) is unmistakable. If some of the scuttles don't line up it'll probably hit you in the face later, every time you look at it. Some detail is better left off, if it becomes a chore or will detract rather than enhance a model. Will you be fitting the screws soon or leave them until later? I'm assuming you know about handed sets of screws. These were all outward-turning, as per drawings in the book. Regards, Jeff. 3
steve5 Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 No Jeff , l did not know that , l always leave the screws till last , had a mishap once , could you elaborate on the outward turning screws please .
ArnoldAmbrose Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 1 hour ago, steve5 said: l always leave the screws till last Me too, usually. When looking at the hull from aft/behind, looking forward as the ship moves forward the top of each screw will turn outward - ie turning left (anticlockwise) for the screws on the port side, turning right (clockwise) for the screws on the starboard side. You can tell which way they turn by the angle of the blades. Notice below how they angle in opposite directions. For a ship with four screws such as Yamato the two on each side will be the same. HTH. The fun bit is when its a three screw design such as the German capital ships, who as far as I'm aware, further complicated things by stating their direction of turn looking at the ship in the opposite direction to most other navies, 1 1

It's no wonder they lost the war. 🙂 Regards, Jeff. 1 3
Gimme Shelter Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 1/200.... this is gonna be a fun build to follow. 4 years on and I am still recovering from building Trumpeter's 1/200 Titanic and that was just deckchairs and lifeboats when it came to fine detail. What a whopper, and good luck to you too 2

Iceman 29 Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 On the Mitsubishi F1M2 Pete, there are two hatches on the top surface of the upper wing, just above the hut that holds the wing to the fuselage. I think this is where the flood hook was hooked with a double sling. You can see them here: On the Aichi E13A Jake, there were 4 lifting points with a spider: 3 1
steve5 Posted October 19, 2024 Author Posted October 19, 2024 some more folding and bending of PE done 8
Faraway Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 Those boats are lovely. Nice PE work there. Jon 1
