Hello

Can’t find another thread on this (apols to the Mods if I missed it) and being October I thought we could kick off the annual speculation/rumour mill 😁

I’ll start with

1/72 Hellcat. Research already done with the super kit of a few years ago. Surely this must appear at some point.

1/48 Harvard IIB. The proper, long glasshouse version. This would fit in with their series on RAF trainers.

Speaking to an Airfix bloke earlier in the year I'm expecting the Scimitar to be the big announcement. Absolutely no idea on scale but I'd imagine it's going to be 1/72nd. Not too sure where this fixation with 1/24th is coming from?

Posted

A most reliabel resource told me that a 1/24 project is in the tube. But this resource did not give any hint on the subject or anything about the date of announcement. My hope goes to an Allison Pony. May be more at T´f.

In 48 we await the definite Tornado and Eurofighter.

Hi all

Long time lurker, first time poster

If it's 1/24 we're talking about, surely an Me 109E is on the cards?

I can only hope...

Well, being that I'm currently building a pair of old 1/24 Bf 109Es with a ton of after market and scratch building involved, it's probably a dead cert that they'll release a new one now.

Cheers!

With regards to the 1/24 release, wasn't there a rumour many moons ago that they were going to do a Gladiator? Given the British slant of Airfix releases, I wouldnt rule out a Tempest or Defiant.

For 1/24 I would think a Hawk would fit their bill. British and iconic. Will wait and see, you never know what direction they are taking.

Starting with a red one of course!

They didn’t retool the MK.I Spitfire, so maybe a 109F or G?

Isn’t it a bit soon for another mega Airfix kit though?

I’m probably barking up the wrong tree, however something never kitted (or in need of a decent new tool) would appeal to many I would think. So sticking with British subjects, my picks would be:

- Single & Twin Seat DH Venom

- Avro Manchester

- Avro Lincoln

Hardly likely I know, however I’d like to think that the old saying ‘Build it and they will come’ may ring true to all the above choices.

Cheers … Dave

Well, a 1/700th HMS Queen Elizabeth (or even a 1/350th one) would be my favourite.

IF one does want a "wingy" thing, then a 1/72nd Avro Lincoln (as per Rabbit Leader above) would be popular (unlikely any other manufacturer would consider it)  -  and a 1/48th one would be even better.

Decal options alone would make this a seller I think, especially with the detail of Airfix’s recent releases.

Electronics bays open, adour engine out.

Aftermarket companies would be all over it.

Having said that id love a big scale Hawk 200 but get that it’s appeal would be less.

What I'd like within the bounds of possibility:

1:24  E E Lightning F.6

1:48  McDonnell Phantom II FG.1/F-4K

1:72  Bristol Britannia or Vickers VC10

But more realistically:

1:24  nothing before 2026

1:48  Harvard, Blunty T.3/4 or possibly a D H Mosquito or Jaguar GR.1

1:72  not sure I care unless it's a Britannia or VC10

Oh, it's that time of the year??? 🤣🤣🤣

Oh well, might as well throw a couple guesses..

Hurricane starter kit, following from last year's 109F and P-51D. Maybe another German subject too for a new dogfight double? Fw.190?

Then I wonder if they may use the data from the 109F to issue a "standard" kit of the type. 1/72 or 1/48?

I feel like it’s time for another vintage classic in 1:24 while we wait for a new tool next(?) year.

Either Mosquito or Fw 190A comes to mind.

for my pennorth…

1/72 Jag a virtual cert…

1/48 Scimitar or Venom would make sense

1/48 Fairey Battle even with the pending competition as it’s been discussed for years

I again suggest a 1/72 or 1/48 Spitfire TR.9 twintub will come…

1/72 V bomber support set

1/35 Land Rover Lightweight

Vintage Classic reissues..

Piper Warrior

Westland Scout

I hope they might do a  new 1/72 Chipmunk and why not a 1/72 Stearman ( a new tool to eclipse the 1965 Revell version I am currently building… obviously)

If Airfix didn't want to compete with what Trumpeter already have out there then the 109F is the glaring hole in the market. Lots of nice schemes from all theatres too. As much as I would like a new 109E, I don't think that will happen but an F would be great.

Apart from that, in 1/24, I would love to see a P-51B, Gladiator, Corsair or a P-40E. For a jet, a 1/24 Jaguar would be amazing.

Same answer from me as last year-

1/72 Javelin.

But a Venom is an unmet need, scale agnostic, and a Hudson still makes sense in 1/72.

Banshee vintage classic?

I don’t really do 1/24 but would be very tempted by a Hawk as mentioned above.

Scaling up their 1/48 Bulldog to 1/24? I might be able to rig that one.

1/48 Jaguar F4-K/M, Harrier GR1/3, Hunter T7/8/12

Re-issue the Sea Vixen and the Wallace and Gromit sets.

1/48 Scimitar.  100% metaphysical certainty.
