dnl42 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Star Decals' 48-B1022 US M8 HMC decal sheet shows an M8 HMC with a deep wading stack. I've found only a couple of contemporaneous photos showing M5s with a wading stack, e.g., on this page, but nothing sufficient to do a proper job, especially with the attachment to the hull. There's nothing in PDF I have of TM9-732B 75-mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M8; it's dated 31-Jan-44 I don't have and could not find a PDF of TM9-727C M5A1 Light Tank. I do have the maintenance volumes TM9-1727B, C, and D, but a scan didn't show anything relevant. Are there any drawings or good photos of this? TIA -- dnl
dnl42 Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 While I've seen that, it's making more sense now if I delete those louvers on the next M8 build. I got interested in a wading stack on an M8 as Star Decals' 48-B1022 sheet has such a configuration.
JackG Posted October 5, 2024 Posted October 5, 2024 There was a pamphlet issued that instructed deep water fording for all vehicle types TM9-2853. The M8 is grouped with the M5 and M5A1 light tanks. So any info based on the later Stuart, such as the Tankograd publication (seems to have the same diagrams taken from the pamphlet linked above ), would be just as useful.
