Now that is an interesting plane as it looks like it is only 60% complete.  A very interesting prototype.  Thanks for sharing.

Oh yes! Those BICh (BICh is from Boris Ivanovich Cheranovsky) aircraft are my favourites from all of the Soviet prototypes. BICh-21 which is similar to this BICh-17 is my favourite.

Very nice result.

BTW - what they were  taking to design such machine!

Interesting. I was puzzled by the extensions on the rear of the wing until I researched the aircraft and discovered that they were parts of the recoilless cannon.

Another nice job on a very obscure aircraft.

Thank you for sharing Alain. This prototype is looking incredible and amazing. Although it looks a little bit like coming from a vintage old comic book it is a real aircraft. Boris Ivanovich Cheranovsky was a designer who specialized in flying wing aircraft. His first projects date back to 1921. For his work in the aircraft industry he was highly decorated by the Soviets. He passed away in 1960.

Just a representative of aerodynamic experiments of the 20-30s. Quite successful as parabolic gliders and aircraft of Cheranovsky were flying okay. Today similar flying wing designs seem to work very well for UAVs.

BTW in the USSR it was probably easier to get money (or plywood and some metal tubes?) for real life experiments with non-traditional aerodynamical schemes as a lot of quite weird experimental aircraft were actually build.and flew.

Alain,

another fantastic model. And what a subject! The first photo I was convinced showed a plane 60% completed, i.e. with no fuselage or tailplane, till I looked closer and saw it is a flying wing!

I must also add that you must have spent weeks, if not months, scouring model shops for these obscure manufacturers and kit subjects.
