After discussing Rhinos somewhere near here recently (I forget where and with whom), I dragged my Deimos Pattern Rhino from the Horus Heresy era out at the weekend, just for a bit of fun slapping something together.  As usual, I just couldn't do that, as I'm seemingly incapable of doing anything the easy way.  Before too long I'd figured out how to put it together in assemblies for painting, as it has an interior as far as the passengers are concerned.

I also noticed that the tail-gate was a bit tight, so tight in fact that it was likely to twist and break.  I reamed it out, and it was a bit floppy afterward, so I installed a magnet in the rear lip of the roof, changing the weird shape of the recess to a more symmetrical look in the process.  I then sliced a slot in the lip of the tail-gate and embedded a section of needle in there, hiding it with a bit of CA filler.

I also made a couple of pins for the cow-catcher on the front, and added a styrene beam inside to make the slot-in fitting a bit stronger and less likely to bend or droop.  You can see the beam in white in the first pic.  The instructions told me I couldn't mount the rocket-pack in with the Multi-Melta installation, but as I don't play the game, I thumb my nose that their rules! :tease:  I've been working on the various seams around the hull this avo, using CA to hide them and give it a more realistic look (hopefully).  I've still got a few to do, then I'll paint the interior, glue the lid on, deal with those seams too, then paint the exterior.  That's the plan anyway... and when do they ever work out?

might've been my MK1 rhino 🤔

this is basically a spruced up version of the MK1.

Looks great, nice work, I may have to get a Deimos Predator Battle tank.

expensive scifi AFV

for this price, i could buy a full interior 1/35 AFV, that why no vehicle in my SM collection, except this dropship which included in BA starter set. 🥰

It was less than £30 of your earth pounds, so not too expensive, and consisted of three sprues of parts, a decal sheet and instruction booklet with plenty of options for weapons and the figure option.  Some of the bigger ones are more expensive, but that's Warhammer for you.

£30 is reasonable price, i see current 30K vhicles sells at £40~80 (?), then greedy GW would mark up 40% plus delay a month for delivery when import to HK. 🤬

with similar price, i could get very detailed 1/35 AFV, FYR.

Warhammer stuff is generally crazy expensive, but also painfully cool. It is what it is...

It used to be worse- my interest is mainly in W30K, which was exclusively Forge World for the longest time. That wasn't just stupidly expensive models, but having to put up with resin kits as well. The reason I've only recently started to add vehicles to my collection is I just couldn't face trying to straighten out and fix misshaped resin panels inches long. 28mm figurines are bad enough!

The modern plastic might be expensive, but it goes together a lot better these days.

I'm looking forward to this one Mike. I've got a few GW AFVs in the stash. I know the scheme I want to paint each of them, but I'm not really into military modelling, so I'm looking to steal  ahem, borrow some tips and techniques. B)

Not before I've stolen them from someone else

I've had a bit of time tidying up seams today, but I'm missing some paint, which will arrive Tuesday, so there's not going to be much progress until then at the earliest :)

yes, GW miniatures are cool. but keep buying for 5yrs, i already felt bored, and current minis always over detailed, pain to paint. and i hate it keep replacing nice old kits, or put them to online exclusive. 😩

Love the Warhammer vehicles. Yes, they are quite expensive, but build really nice, and normally have plenty of options.

At least the plastic ones do. I have a few of the resin kits, which I'm building up to actually making.

Paint wise, its sci-fi, so up to you, and as I don't play the game weapon fits are what I think are nice, not what the rules allow.
