alternative tracks and barrel for Border Model Crusader Tank

Recommended Posts

Recently I've bought the Border Model BT012 Crusader Mk.III British Cruiser Tank Mk.VI kit. Looks ok apart from the tracks. I'm looking for some alternatives. So far I've found the following:

1) T Model P35-034 British WWII Cruiser Tank A15 Crusader - Workable Track (for Border Model Kit)

2) FriulModel 069 CRUSADER

3) PanzerWerk Design British Crusader tank tracks

Anyone knows if there is something much cheaper? Brocno BRO3516 has a perfect price, but I'm guessing it's not correct for this tank.

Bronco not correct. Those are the narrower A13 tracks.  From experience with the brand I would also suggest Masterclub - despite them being Russian.  The more I hear about 3D tracks being fragile, not holding together, not going back together again etc the more I think that medium is not yet mature enough,

  • MarkIV changed the title to alternative tracks and barrel for Border Model Crusader Tank

It looks like the metal barrel is totally wrong. Really, I was hoping this kit will be MUCH better than Italeri's... Anyway, it looks like the MR Modellbau 35655 Gun Barrel L/43 57mm (6 pdr.) Mk. III for Crusader III (for Border Models kits) is the only rescue for this kit. Has anyone tried it?

No.  But I don't think there is much wrong with the RB Models offering as a 6pdr MkIII barrel. The MR product is, however, engineered to fit the Border kit parts whreas the RB product is generic and might need some fettling of kit parts to fit.

You are aware that the counterweight could overhang the muzzle to give a "wide mouth" appearance?  They were individually adjusted to balance the gun in the mounting.

Late production Crusader IIIs had the MkV gun with the longer L/50 barrel.  But AFAIK none of these made it to N Africa.  The photos I've seen of them have all been in the UK.
