Kawsasaki Ki-45 Toryu ( Dragonslayer ) aka `Nick`

Hi All,

 Finally finished the latest addition to the Pacific collection

My second attempt at one of Hasegawa`s 1/48 Nick`s

Built 99.9% from the box contents.......

Just aerial wire, seat belts and one piece of transparent mirror or gunsight to replace a part that was eaten by the carpet monster.......

........which is strange, because there isn`t a carpet in the kitchen at all!

 

Bit of a painful build this one with ( unusually for Hasegawa ) some warped and short shot parts,..........

The camo` blotches took 2 coats which sent my eyes 😵 and then.........

......showed up through the white  and yellow decals 😬

Finally had horrendous trouble trying to get the open portion of the canopy attached and looking right`ish`, the man who  invented that is no longer on my christmas card list !

Thanks Rodger, I drew a demarcation line in pencil to separate the top and bottom and keep things in line and painted the blob`s freehand with a small paintbrush. I did the fuselage one evening, fin + tailplanes + nacelles the next and the wings the next evening. I had to repeat the process as the paint needed a second coat though. when dry I rubbed out the demarcation line.

Great build Russ. I really like this scheme on Japanese planes, but I've never had the courage to have a go at re creating it. I have to say I cant see any evidence of the colours showing through the decals, it looks spot on to me as does all your work..
