LorenSharp Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Well since I've got an SR-71 Build going on in the Main Gallery, I might as well throw my ushanka in the ring and do the Blackbird's arch nemesis the Mikoyan-Gurevich Mig-25PD from ICM. And this will definitely be done in Ukrainian livery. Let's see what's we gots.... The Ukrainian decals will come from my stash. ,but I'll use the stenciling and whatnot from the kit set. All I'm waiting on right now is my correct colour paint and some P/E and I should have that by early next week. 13
JOCKNEY Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Hi mate That looks like a great kit, with lovely crisp molding. Best of luck with it Cheers Pat 1
LorenSharp Posted September 13 Author Posted September 13 Thanks Pat.. Hopefully I'll be able to do it justice. 1
JOCKNEY Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Hi Have you had a chance to make any progress on this one ? Cheers Pat
LorenSharp Posted November 29 Author Posted November 29 Barely Pat. I hope to have an update some time this weekend. . But God willin' and the creek don't rise I should have it completed before Christmas. You know like having the troops home by Christmas. 1
LorenSharp Posted December 2 Author Posted December 2 Well the creek hasn't risen. At least not yet anyways, so here's a brief update to all the fun goings on. I did add a cockpit P/E set And with a little clean up and a splash of paint... Viola! a akings of a cockpit. or at least the start of one. 3
LorenSharp Posted December 2 Author Posted December 2 Then with the nose halves glued together about 25-30g of BB's for ballast to keep this old girl from being a tail sitter. With those in place next, added said nose to cockpit tube. Not a bad fit.
LorenSharp Posted December 2 Author Posted December 2 To which I spoke too soon. There's been a lot of mention about some of the gaps in the building of this kit. Unfortunately it is true. Not bad but I'll deal with this when I get further along. I'll have to say the intakes so far are the most over engineered bits I've seen in a kit. And with instructions that aren't very clear at times, it took a few tries to get all the parts to follow along in formation. I have a feeling this build will get real interesting real quick. Stay tuned for more fun 6
LorenSharp Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 After the battle of the intakes It's time to add the rest of the main components aside from the engines. Namely the wings and tail. Gaps, gaps and more gaps. the reviews and other builds weren't wrong.even after trimming, clamping, ram rodding, and other dastardly deeds still have some sizable canyons to contend with. 4
LorenSharp Posted December 6 Author Posted December 6 Which mean when the going gets tough, the tough, break out the automotive filler! and masking tape. The detail and plastic is much too fine and soft to trust sanding to not damage everything. First the tape, then... I'll let these dry for a day or so before pressing on. More to follow soon. 6
exdraken Posted Sunday at 06:31 AM Posted Sunday at 06:31 AM Looks nice! You will manage to fill it!, I am sure 😀 For next time, make sure you stay true to the instructions in this area, the issue seems to come from the intakes side slots. If you do it right, it basically snaps into place! Without the need for filler.. . Ask me how I know with 3 built... 😉 1
