Radar Posted September 12, 2024 Posted September 12, 2024 (edited) Hi All, I am not normally an AFV modeller as I mostly build aircraft, however, I have been challenged to a build off of a tank by a friend. My current modelling interests are Polish themed and as such spent a week in Warsaw last week, visiting the Uprising 1944 Museum and the new Polish Army Museum. I also managed to drag my better half for miles around the city to visit 3 of the 4 model shops there. I must admit they were some of the best Model shops that I have ever seen with very impressive stocks of kits and hobby essentials. One of my purchases was the Tamiya 1/35 Panther Ausf A, I also managed to persuade a shop keeper of Jadar Hobby to order a set of 1/35 captured German tank Polish markings, which he is posting to me. Now to the knub of the matter, even the models of the 2 captured Panthers "Magda" and "Pudel" in the Uprising Museum don't appear to be definite if those Panthers were Ausf D or Ausf A versions! They appear to be one of each. The photographs from the period are also very fuzzy and make it impossible to tell what Commander's Cupola version they have or how many nuts there are on the roadwheels. The various internet pictures show the tanks to be allover Panzer yellow and camouflaged, both cannot be correct. Also did these partricular tanks have zimmerit on their surfaces? Can anyone help on these questions please. Thanks in anticipation Ian Edited September 12, 2024 by Radar spelling mistake
Tigerausfb Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 (edited) https://www.valka.cz/Pz-Kpfw-V-Panther-ve-sluzbach-cizich-armad-t40205#375908 Ex Pz.Rgt. 27 Ausf.G ...you're going to need a new kit, sorry! They do appear to be zimmerited. Easiest way to tell Ausf. D and A from Ausf. G from a side or rear fuzzy photo view is the rear side armour. Interesting to note some of the Polish guys have SS smocks on. Edited September 13, 2024 by Tigerausfb
