Me too! I've only ever managed to finish one, and that went down to the wire 🤣

Cheers,

The good new is that with the dates in the provisional calendar, KUTA gives a month's extension straight off- time for even more unfinished builds!

Done a fair few of these, also as Arii- about the only way to get a smattering of General Aviation. Simple but good fun builds, seems to remember the plastic is vaguely translucent like it should glow in the dark (but doesn't😥)

I have just noticed that this has turned into a firm proposal fixture for next year; count me in!

There's a certain overlap between this and my Kit Katastrophe proposal (which is NOT to say all minor manufacturers produced awful kits) but I would happily build the stinkers here instead, and maybe even a good one or two - those 1/48 Inpact kits aren't going to build themselves. I also have a 1/65 scale Bristol Sycamore from Glencoe, which was originally a Lincoln International kit, subsequently re-popped by Plasty and Kader. What can I say, it was cheap in a bargain bin and it had an all-yellow colour scheme...

Strangely enough, Joystick Models vacforms are still available as new product from Hannants.

[edit] ooh, just remembered Pegasus...

Adrian

Is this really going ahead?

No voting for it the Great Britmodeller Bun Fight?

Well from bitter experience I would organise some counselling to help you avoid such an occurrence :fraidnot:

It's in the 2025 calendar in black and white (well, it's a turquoise bar but you get the drift...):

Awww, c'mon, it's not that bad!

The later ones (in boxes) aren't that bad, the earlier ones (in bags with header cards) are just, well, more interesting than yer average kit.

Adrian

I was thinking exactly that, a definite crossover. Any further thoughts on this matter ?

I will let the BM massif decide. There's always some overlap between GBs so I wouldn't feel guilty if it got through. There are plenty of good kits from lesser-known manufacturers too!

My understanding is that these venerable old kits are too fragile for the rough and tumble of the full bunfight. As a result they have a 'seniors' sub contest of roughly going round in order as long as there's enough interest.

There certainly are, and given the technology of the time they are often very good, sometimes only one available. Plus I often prefer their simplicity to the 9 sheets of P/E etc and general over-specification of modern kits (dismounts hobby horse!)

That would be a double classic- classic kit in a classic setting. Only one question...

Are we there yet?

Let's add another less known manufacturer to the list - Kovozávody Semily! They appear to have been a short lived company from the late Czechoslovakia, although there's a link to the later day Vista company history.

https://www.scalemates.com/brands/kovozavody-semily-kovozavody-semily--1649

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/kovozavody-semily-kovozavody-semily-741-491-curtiss-p-40k--157187

Nevertheless, I recall that their 1:72 P-40K (link above) got in its day some not-that-thrashing reviews. Of course it has since those years been made obsolete by the superior SH kit. I may try to hunt down one Revell rebox for this GB :hmmm:. V-P

Is Nitto excluded? I remember building a few of their archaic armour kits in the 1970s.

I'll add Kovozávody Semily to the list, good luck in your quest to find one :fingerscrossed:

Hi Ian

I have no problem including Nitto, after all armour kits in any GB are not exactly common. Did you have a particular kit in mind ?

Is the 1990 date etched in stone?  I have a number of Sierra vacufroms I ought to get to, but they are just about all post-1990.  Just think, you could miss an opportunity to see a failed attempt at a Consolidated PB-2....

I'd like to see that as I had one of those but never even opened the box! 😆

Hi @jimmaas

1990 be damned, I'm not going to miss an opportunity for you to build your Sierra kits. Please note I said KITS :wicked: @Enzo the Magnificent would be proud of me
