nearsightedjohn Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 I built this one pretty much OOB except for HGW PE fan blades to replace the molded open blade that came with the kit and EZ line and Gaspatch turnbuckles. It was mostly smooth going except for some problems I had getting the metal cowling to fully seat to the wood/ linen fuselage on the starboard side (notice gap) and difficulty getting the engine mount to fully seat to the airframe, both user errors on my part. I used Tamiya acrylics per the instructions and clear coated with Mr Color Super Clear Satin. The French-British style “double line” rigging was a first for me and really challenged my hand-eye-tweezers skills. A small flashlight really helped the rigging process which took me several weeks to complete. I was really impressed with these 11 year old kit decals which went down without any cracking or other issues, maybe it helped that I never broke the seal on the plastic decal bag? I try to build at least one WNW kit from my stash per year hoping that this goal will have some weird affect on extending my life span, at least that was the excuse I gave my wife when I purchased a bunch of these kits back in Dec ‘22 when they were briefly available again. nearsightedjohn Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Here are a few in-process pics from this build, unfortunately most of this work is invisible on the completed model but I had fun doing it! 18 1 4 2
Epeeman Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 That's a really lovely job on your Salmson - good clean finish and excellent rigging. Such a shame WNW folded ....... Regards Dave 1
Duncan B Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Beautifully done, the interior is a masterpiece on its own. I didn't realise that the Salmson had a fixed water cooled radial engine. Duncan B 1

kelly9mm Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Absolutely magnificent. Fantastic interior (woodwork level master). Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Marcin 1
nearsightedjohn Posted September 10, 2024 Author Posted September 10, 2024 (edited) Thank you gents for all the kind responses above. My wood technique is right off the tips page on the WNW website. This double rigging experience has given me a little more confidence to take a stab at a few of the other double rig WNW kits in my stash (I.e. Bristol F.2b). YorkshireT Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 The wood effect is ridiculously good. In fact all of the build is. 1 1

Donald Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Very impressive. Super model with lots of details. Nicely rigged and turnbuckled too.
