Hi guys,

I may regret this but I am in with the Mikromir Valiant. I know there is a bit of work to do with this kit and I have a lot of others in progress at the moment so it should be fun trying to fit it in. It may be a couple of weeks before I start but we will see how it goes.

Should be a good thread! Once it's over, perhaps you should reward yourself with a much nicer GWH Valiant

Great stuff Dave

I've never built a Mikromir kit before so look forward to seeing how this one turns out :fingerscrossed:

As there are two of us building this kit, hopefully between us we will beat it into submission! As @exdraken said, the fit of the intakes is less than stellar and has taken a bit of fettling to get them to fit to a reasonable standard. More fettling is needed to sort out the join profile but I guess I knew this one wasn't going to be that straight forward. Reading @robvulcan's build, I definitely could do with a set of those wonderful intakes he created! Sadly, I do not have the skills or the patience to achieve anything close to that so out with the filler and sanding stick again.

Now the Defiant has been completed I can devote more time to this project. The fuselage is now closed up with the seams still needing some attention. As @exdraken has mentioned, the canopy seems to fit surprisingly well, but it will still hide the cockpit detail nonetheless. Looking at the pitot tubes provided in the kit, I think I will also follow his lead and order some aftermarket replacements.

It looks like 1/144 will suit the Valiant well :coolio:

I am at a similar stage to @exdraken, the overall shape is now there with liberal amounts of filler required to blend it all in. I need to do a bit more polishing of the surfaces and give the whole thing a coat of primer to see how the joins look. I too will be using the KV masks, it would be way too much hassle to try doing it on my own. I have also ordered the Master brass pitot tubes as they look to be far better than those provided in the kit. Transparancies, underwing tanks and undercarriage to follow.
