Best 1/72 Me-262?

Very good spot, I'd not noticed this missing detail.

The good news is that they are barely noticeable in the pics I have so wonder if they are there on the Hasegawa/Revell/Academy kits?

Plus I'm not sure how to now replicate these missing rings of small vents in this scale, although a suitable decal might work possibly if I can find something in the spares box?

My experience of Hobby Boss kits is that some are very good indeed whilst others can be a bit crude in some areas so I'd be interested to know from someone who has built this kit, and whether it has the small circular vents missing on my Airfix example.

Given the issues with the non-fit of the engines with the Airfix kit I'd steer clear and opt for one of the other alternatives, unless you want the hassle of sanding, scraping and then more sanding and scraping to get the things to remotely fit and look realistic.

Apologies but in a bit of a mood with my own Airfix kit just now having spent the past 4 hours sanding and scraping everything I can think of in the hope that come tomorrow when the wings are firmly glued together the engines will be sufficiently close to where they need to be!

Ps. see my more recent post on the outcome of my 'fix' in WIP as it went reasonably well I think, and I've provided some hints/tips on how to go about solving the fit issue. So I am now less critical of the kit and would consider buying another now that I know what to expect and how to go about solving the engine problem.

One thing about the Airfix I did not see mentioned... for some reason they did not include the two rows of little vents around the rear of the engine nacelles, just forward of the exhaust.

When I saw this post, I immediately thought of what Chuck commented on.  Yes, Airfix dropped the ball on the engines (how they managed that, I do not know.  A good question for Airfix...).

Personally, I like the Revell kit, even Hasegawa's old 262 kits are still quite good, mind you, they could use a cockpit set (as all Hasegawa kits do).  As PatG has pointed out, Rob Taurus makes a wonderful replacement vac canopy for the Revell kit.  If one has a Hasegawa kit kicking about, you can even use that canopy on the Revell kit.

Mulberry Scale Kits offers several conversion sets for the 262A kit, including an excellent cockpit, engine air intakes and nosewheel set.  Mulberry sells on eBay or you can purchase direct from them.
