1/72 Scale Mosquito ....help needed please

Recommended Posts

I have been given a broken Mosquito model but the are no rear wings or rear wheel ,the wheel i think i can fashion from balsa wood by guessing dimensons then painting

but if anyone has a 1/72 scale Mosquito could you give me dimensions of rear wing please again i can use balsa wood

Then......... i might repaint the aircraft but how do i remove the decals

Cheers Tony

For the decals, rub sellotape onto them and then carefully peel it off. This should work but may need a couple of goes. They may scrape off with a fingernail.

Failing that,  try a pan scrubber (washing up sponge with scotchbrite on one side), Don't press too hard or you may damage the paint.

@Brigbeale does restorations. I've done one.

I soaked a kit in IPA. Brian uses Dettol. Some use ovencleaner. We strip off paint and then reprime and repaint.

For the horizontal stabilizers, sheet styrene might be easier than balsa. You can laminate sheets then file and sand it to shape.

I have a matchbox mosquito kit

For plans, check out scalemates.com who has a database of instructions.  Just search for 1/72 Mosquito and when you find a kit, scroll down and you might find the instructions.  Photocopy to scale required, et voila.
