You just have to look into the settings and deselect "zoom to fit media" or whatever your printer unilaterally decides you want to do without consulting you 2
Whofan Posted November 9 Posted November 9 (edited) Day 1. This was more like Telford of old. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve never seen such a queue for members to get in, but curiously, at 8.55am, there were plenty of spaces in the centre car park. Instead of having people going along the queue checking membership cards and giving out wristbands, that was done at the entrance to hall 3. This definitely slowed things down, which meant several poor members suffered my ramblings for a loooong time! I will ask a “yellow coat” (reminds me of Maplins!!) tomorrow why our membership cards were hole punched - it must have something to do with checking entry, but I’m not sure why. I only looked at Hall 1, with a couple of forays into Halls 2 and 3. But my goodness, some magnificent models on club tables. A special mention to the Martian, whose Zeppelin display was really good. Reading some of the captions and stories about the raids, looking at the artefacts and the models - extraordinary. There were a number of tremendous themes on club tables, the movie and tv sig chose a cracking theme, the cover story, where the model referenced a book, poster, or DVD case; Rutland with their 25th anniversary, so all models were silver; and who could fail to be impressed by the amazing Overlord display, which seems to get bigger and more detailed every time I go to SMW. I did get along to Airfix’s stand, and saw both new Sea King and Lysander made up, both looked extremely good, and there was a lovely Bristol Superfreighter made up, which I’d also seen on a club table. I had a nice chat with a couple of Airfix chaps, no, they wouldn’t confirm that the next 1/24th kit would be a Sunderland! But interestingly, the one chap sort of confirmed that next year might well be a new 1/24th kit, as he said a 1/24th project is a 3 year project, next year being 3 years after the last. I also managed to get an Airfix badge and coin. One of my forays into other halls was oddly timed at 2pm, when a bunch of grizzled modellers appeared just to the side of Keighley club, not too far from the bar ……….. it was nice to meet up with some familiar faces, and new ones … I honestly can’t remember everyone, but it was nice to see you, to see you nice!! I also nipped along to Eduard and Special Hobby’s stands, picked up some odds and ends, and found out that the Special Hobby 1/72 Kreigsfischkutter will be released in March next year. And I also found out that DBMK (?) will release their 1/32 Sea Fury in September next year, hopefully at under £80. And that Endeth my Saturday at Telford. Edited November 9 by Whofan 5 1 1

I thought how they laid out all the after market items was a very good idea. Pity I don’t know what I wanted so will have to do some research this evening and go back with list. It was good it was in alphabetical order in the little booklets so you could work out which box to look in dont know if that’s what they normally do, t’was my first visit 1

I found that booklet especially helpful in Special Hobby looking for some of their items. 1
Ptmvarsityfan Posted November 9 Posted November 9 (edited) A highlight for me on a great day was the Special Hobby representative saying the Ffrom Fairey Battle is due in two weeks. Why do exciting releases miss SMW? Cheers Edited November 9 by Ptmvarsityfan Poor editing 1
Scarlet Posted November 9 Posted November 9 The members queue was painfully slow, not helped by TIC staff telling people to join the queue where they liked, while the end of it was still in Wolverhampton. A good show otherwise. I managed to get most of what I was after, mainly paint, air brush cleaner and two kits, ZM F-4E Late and a Kinetic F-16A. Just the one bargain this year, a Tamiya Toyota GT-One for £15 from Models for Sale, which when I got it home, was found to have a set of aftermarket decals for the 98 Le Mans cars in the box.😁 1
TEXANTOMCAT Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Some of the guys at a model club I know said one of the gold winning models had been stolen? Any truth to that? it wasn’t me- I’m there tomorrow! TT 1
Mr T Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Unfortunately it wouldn't be the first time, if true. Over the years models have 'disappeared' from shows, I still don't know what happened to a model of my mine from about 1990. It was a Hercules, so not small and I am not sure why anyone would want it, still no accounting for taste. Model railways seem to suffer more, not just off trade stands. 3

Despicable behaviour, some people will steal anything not nailed down. When I went to the Photography Show last year the demo cameras were having the batteries stolen. 3
Whofan Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Sunday at Telford. Day 2 is as gloomy as yesterday, but a pleasant enough drive through the North Worcestershire and East Shropshire countryside gave me a sparrow hawk lazily drifting just above a hedge, and several pheasants. I arrived at probably a half empty car park, no queues from the roundabout. To say I am pleased there’s only a smallish queue here is an understatement.😁 Into the centre for the 9am kickoff! 1
tank152 Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Throughly enjoyed yesterdays visit. I always leave with a warm glow inside myself, I just love how easy it is to strike up conversations with folk when showing interest in their models, very handy for someone who can talk the hind legs off a donkey! Back for more today. 1 1
71chally Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Did anyone get any snaps? Be great to see the new Airfix & Revell product stands.
TEXANTOMCAT Posted November 10 Posted November 10 In the non IPMS queue- breeze to get in to the car park but it’s somewhat busier than usual I thought. The gloom is lifting with the mist burning off so looks like a beautiful day. reasonable non IPMS queue but not as big as I’ve seen before- maybe cos I’m early or maybe because many have joined. Single IPMS annual membership is £32, SMW entry £25 so actually makes sense on the basis you get in free as a member an hour earlier and get the magazines etc as well. I tend to go to SMW every other year so maybe I’ll sign up in ‘26. have a good show everyone TT 2

Foolproof, but in this instance it's sneakproof. Can't get a bracelet without getting a hole in your card, so then it's just a matter of checking bracelets when the wanderers return
Black Knight Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Not totally bad person proof Several yeas ago (about 2018? afair) two chaps got their wristbands then went to a photocopy shop in Telford centre. They got their wristbands colour copied, cut them out then gave them to their mates. Afaik about 10 or 12 mates got in with these wristbands. The copied ones don't need to last long and they just showed the band on their wrist to the entrance crew. No checks to see if they were the real deal The bad guys were IPMS members so got a wristband for both days I happen to know them 5
