general melchett Posted November 5 Posted November 5 (edited) Great social event with a few models chucked in...We'll be there, (Neil, (Woody) and myself) on the Bomber Command SIG table and Martian's Zeppelin table, just pop on over for a chat. A lot of folks to catch up with so looking forward to it. Melchie Edited November 5 by general melchett 2
Mr T Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I've always wanted to meet the general, but no idea who is in real life, surely he won't be wearing be jewelled battle shorts will he? Can be a bit chilly at the TIC. 1
Flying Badger Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I suspect the General laughs in the face of a bit of chill. Bejewelled Battle Shorts to the ready! What! 😉 2

bentwaters81tfw Posted November 5 Posted November 5 And if you want to avoid the queues, leave the motorway at junction 5, not 4. That will give you a clear run into Cherry Pink/No 1. 2 1

Except that there are roadworks off Junction 5 - shouldn't be a problem early doors but might cause issues later in the morning. https://one.network/uk/telford 3
bentwaters81tfw Posted November 6 Posted November 6 That's a bummer. Just as well I'm not there this year. I usually stay in Shrewsbury.

No skimpy battle shorts, feather boas or regimental gold lame crop tops this year...caused way too much attention and near chaos in the competition area last year. No, no, just look out for a bushy moustache and big hat hanging out with a strange looking bloke with unfeasibly large tentacles. 2 1 1
Flying Badger Posted November 6 Posted November 6 That's a bit rum, commenting on the size of a chaps tentacles! 4

Rhino Posted November 6 Posted November 6 F-4 Phantom SIG is all loaded up ready now, and not a single Phantom in sight. Instead we are celebrating 70 years since the C-130 Hercules first flight (as there is no hercules SIG). Pop by for a chat if you are so inclined (or a rant if you miss your annual Phantom Phix).
Tim R-T-C Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Definitely not already packed, in fact will probably be finishing off my builds on Friday morning 😟 Shouldn't have started five new vignettes with just a few weeks to go before the show 😏

I was painting the mud to go under some grass of a base for a model at around 1am this morning whilst watching the car-crash-TV of the US election! FB
Flying Badger Posted November 6 Posted November 6 @Tim R-T-C You or E going to the meeting tomorrow night?

general melchett Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Quote If the General's comprehensive description above doesn't work, I'll point him out for you Thanks James, appreciated, probably a good idea coz this year I'll be going incognito and mingling with the great unwashed...dressed as a regular pundit! shocking, I know. Good grief, all these folks finishing stuff at the last minute. I'm older and wiser now (well, older, at least) and learnt my lesson many moons ago to make sure everything was ready earlier in the year, thus saving a lot of angst and pain, especially for young Baldrick who usually (and quite happily) took the brunt of it in true Bulldog spirit... 3
neilh Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I thought I had learned my lesson about leaving it late to build pledged models. Can't complain because I just had 2 weeks in the Maldives which was totally my choice 😁, but I still had one model to finish when I returned home in the early hours of last Saturday. Thankfully it's done ( and my first vac form too!) and I just need to get it, and its compatriots safely into the Hall on Friday. Really looking forward to Telford again this year. A large contingent of us travel up from IPMS Avon and stay for the weekend so its a proper " Jolly Boys Outing". We have a curry booked for Friday night and then another meal booked for 20+ in Shrewsbury on Saturday night after which we can visit a few of their lovely pubs. Looking at the trader list it looks to be pretty much back to its glory days pre Covid. Lovely! 2
Heather Kay Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Sadly, Best Beloved and I won’t be there this year. I hope everyone has a splendid weekend, and I hope we can make it for 2025. 4
Tim R-T-C Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Rather than a late night, I was up at 0530 to wrap up these four brand new vignettes - come show them some love at the SIG144 table 😁 6 2
james37611 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Anyone remember or know when the cafe opens at the big Asda Telford? Website times says its closed 7 days a week!
treker_ed Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I've just got this info: https://storelocator.asda.com/west-midlands/telford/malinsgate According to that it's open from 07:00 to 23:00 Saturday & 10:00 to 16:00 Sunday.
