81-er Posted November 3 Posted November 3 2pm sounds good to me, as I'll have finished my stint on the door by then. Last year's location was by Birmingham to save Perdu having to walk too far, but I see Keighley is only a couple of tables down from Birmingham, so that works James 2
Flying Badger Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Ah I see didn't realise thats why we picked Birmingham's table last year.... I assumed it was proximity to the bar 😉 Although I don't think we partook of anything in the end. 1 1
81-er Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I think the location to the bar was a very close 2nd James 1
Roof Rat Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Hello all It is with deep regret I can not make this year's SMW, to all of you who manage to attend I hope you have a good-time, and may it not be too crowded. Cheers (literally) RR (Chris). 2
Farmerboy Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Hope the show is a stunning success, I’ve been a couple of times in the past and it was an inspirational visit, so many beautiful models on show and you could spend a fortune on tools, paints and accessories let along models. l won’t be able to attend this year but when I next visit I will make a huge effort to meet up with you guys, l will be easy to spot, fix in your mind the image of the ‘wurzels’ ( the west countries finest band ) and that will be me!!😂 1
Gordon J Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Good or bad Wonderland Models also filled their display at Scale Scotland with a large number of vintage kits over more modern releases and afterwards I was left thinking 'this is all well and good if you're after kits from the 1990s but not so much if you're looking for something from 2024.' I left feeling disappointed. 😐

Kits from 2024 are easily obtainable anywhere. Kits from the 1990s less so. 1 1
bentwaters81tfw Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I actively hunt out the weird and wonderful, but I'm not there this year, so you lot can get lucky.
jackroadkill Posted November 4 Posted November 4 I'll be there; just remembered that I hadn't actually booked a ticket, so remedied that PDQ!

Antics, Hannants, Models for Sale, Brigade , Frome and Jadlam amongst several others will also have stacked piles of modern kits. The only area I find poorly represented at Telford , especially since White Ensign and Sovereign Hobbies stopped trading there are ship models, but looking at this forum, I guess it's a smaller genre in the hobby. Just take a look at the updated trader list on the IPMS UK site. Bumper trade year this year.

L'Arsenal and Neomega also, and Naval models. Dorset print man as well. Hopefully all of them do make it. Agreed, all different niche aspects of ship model world and it would be great to see more, but very welcome. It's also somewhat indicative of the fact that even relatively famous or mainstream subjects in ship modelling will only exist as niche resin kits from smaller model makers.

Hope we see you James. We are on the first row of tables inside the entrance in hall 3. Actually exactly next to Keighley. 3

Flying Badger Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Great idea on the 2026 Spitfire group build. Added my name to your thread. I now have an excuse* to obsess over spitfire kits and aftermarket goodies at Telford this year. *not that I needed the excuse but it's nice to have 😉 1
Neddy Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Re. car parking, I've seen it mentioned that the car parks surrounding the venue fill up pretty quickly but someone kindly mentioned one about 5 minutes walk away that's less likely to be full and also cheaper. For the life of me I can't find the post though! Anyone recommend one?
Flying Badger Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I usually park in the one just across the road which was fine the last two years, even when I was arriving later than the start both days last year there were still spaces on the ground floor without needing to go up any levels in the multistorey. Flying Badger Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Just looked and it's referred to as the "Cherry Pink" car park (Telford seems to have gone for a weirdly over specific colour designation for car parks at some point). Here's a useful reference site for other car parks: https://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/telford/?arriving=202411051230&leaving=202411051430#google_vignette 1

It's now Long Stay Car Park 1. Poetic isn't it? Edited November 5 by 3DStewart 1
