Good evening,

Stelar job on the engine!!

The build is really great and very interesting: BRAVO!

Watching that machining sequence brought back a few memories of a bench top CNC mill that I used to help the kids program at the local high school I worked for just before retirement.

Your machine is much more sophisticated having multiple tool heads.  5 to 6K is a pretty good price for such a machine anyway as far as I can see, so getting yours for 3K Nick really was a good investment.

I reckon that by now you must have the most sophisticated home model making workshop in the UK !

Lordy! No pressure then.

If that’s true, I probably should be turning out better stuff than I am then. ☹️

Only just caught up with your progress on this project.  Truly impressive stuff!

My main impression is that MFH kits are not as good as I thought, but you have the multiple engineering disciplines to correct the errors.  I'm very impressed.

You are too modest Nick !.  Most of us can only look in awe at the things you have been developing and producing.

Hi Nick.  I put that Micro Circular Bench Saw similar to your one on my Christmas list.

Pleased to say it arrived under the Christmas tree.

Basically a clone of your machine with very slight differences.

It has been in constant use since getting it as I am currently working on a model primarily made from wood.

Did not know such a thing existed until I came across your earlier post. If only I had known about it years ago !

Saves me hours when doing repetitious cutting strips, extrusions etc.

Nice thing about it being so small is that I can drop it straight into a wild bird feed fat ball plastic container without having to take anything off it. Out and working in a minute or so and tucks away fast afterwards.

Great little bit of kit that your earlier post inspired me to obtain.

Incidentally, how is the Lancia is going?       Not seen you on here for a bit.

Your thread has been a bit quiet of late. Hope you are OK.

Well.. my wife broke her arm really badly in September and has had major surgery, metal plates, the works. She was just getting over it and then slipped on the ice and broke her ankle- more surgery. Total fluke.

On top of all that I’ve been turning my CAD Shenanigans to some real world stuff

I think it turned out OK

I couldn’t help but do this bit once it occurred to me - I am an old techie with too much time on my hands after all (sound on please)

so lots of nursing, shopping, cooking, dog walking, a bit of house building and no modelling at all.

I’m supposed to have retired in December too as well apparently. So much for that.

normal service will be resumed as soon as possible!

Thanks for asking though 👍

regards

Sometimes life takes precedent over other things. I hope your wife has a speedy recovery from her ankle injury, as if she has not been suffering enough already from her previous accident.

All the best. Noel

Sometimes things take a turn for the worse with a maddening repetition of serious problems.

I feel for you because I've recently been in hospital 3 times in 6 months and had two operations for colic perforations.

I wish your wife a speedy and complete recovery, and wish you the best.

I immediately thought of the Doors, but when Arthur Brown started I had to chortle:-)  Best wishes to the missus and yourself.

Hi Nick

Also glad to see an update from you.  Sorry for your wife's set-back but time and your assistance will get her back on her feet again.   I'm very much in synch with your situation as my own wife had a stroke almost a year ago and it affected her eyesight in a major way.   Since then my main role is as a chauffeur and my "Miss Daisy" can sit in the back seat and bark directions at me ... not really.   Real life ... can sure get in the way of having fun.

Lovely job on the fireplace by the way.
