What is the best way to travel to Duxford from London?

I will spend a few days in London prior to SMW in November, and I am thinking about a visit to IWM Duxford. What would be the best way to go by public transportation?

See https://www.iwm.org.uk/visits/iwm-duxford/getting-here but the 7a bus referred to now has very few journeys and in the autumn may not stop at IWM Duxford.

 

So the quick answer is you cannot. Or rather it is not easy. For public transport in the UK there's a useful site called https://www.traveline.info/

 Beware for IWM you have to enter the postcode as  your destination asthe village of Duxford is some distance. The nearest station is Whittlesford Parkway and that is a fair walk and you also have to cross the M11 junction roundabout. Most of the time it's either a walk or a very expensive taxi from Cambridge, remember to book ua return journey.

 

Your best bet would be to put a request on here nearer the date and perhaps a member might be able to offer you a lift from an agreed pick up point. Perhaps there are enough members for a pre SMW meet up?

It's only 2 miles from Whittlesford Parkway station which has a direct train service to London Liverpool Street (though it's quite slow, might be quicker to travel from  Kings Cross to Cambridge and change trains there). A taxi from Whittlesford to IWM Duxford shouldn't be too expensive, or you could walk if you're fairly fit and healthy.
