Sabrejet Posted December 9, 2024 Author Posted December 9, 2024 The F-86A in 1/48 by all accounts exceeded expectations. But as you'll see from the 1/72 F-86A kit, CP has taken critique of the 1/48 kit and acted on it. I know I'm biased but I find that deeply impressive: they could have just scaled-down the 1/48 kit and taken the money. But instead they made changes: shape of the engine starter/generator housing for one; three optional gun muzzle ports another. So anything that follows will be done correctly as first priority. Bear in mind too that these things take time: as I recall my first input into the CP 1/48 F-86A was back in 2020. There is no lack of appreciation, apparent or invisible on the part of the manufacturer. But elsewhere? 3 1 1

dimaADA Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Greetings! I would like to demonstrate some intermediate stages of the test build 1. Ejection seat 2. Cabin assembled. Quite a lot of elements, everything is molded in plastic, very detailed. 3. Exhaust nozzle 4. Assembling a block of parts for the air intake duct + front landing gear 5. Internal fuselage elements 6. Filling the fuselage with all of the above: Further dry assembly showed the need for a nose weight of at least 2.5 grams. 7. Intermediate stage of assembling the wing and main landing gear: 8. Assembled model airframe: Overall, the model's airframe came together perfectly. The only point that I considered necessary to correct was the ledge under the slat: In the model, this ledge is practically not noticeable, but when assembling the wing, I considered it necessary to indicate it more clearly. The test build continues. Thank you all very much for your interest in this model! 11 2 5

Makes me even more anxious to get my kits of this long needed Sabre variant. As concerns the tight fit of the slat insert, I find that highly commendable. Gene K 1 1

dimaADA Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Greetings! The test build was completed a week ago. Everything fits together perfectly! But I didn’t have a suitable background for the final photography. I had to look it. Therefore, this post is coming out a little late. So, here's what we ended up with: 15 3 5
PhantomBigStu Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Looks like the gear doors should fit in the up position with some fettling, can’t wait to get my hands on one 2
Dennis_C Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Yeah - looks to be an excellent kit. I will be buying immediately for a parallel built with maybe Sword Fury and Hasegawa D. 2
Robert Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 First one on my 2025 shopping list. Regards Robert 2 1

Unfortunately, at the moment I can't demonstrate it, since there are no more test sprue castings left. But when a new sprues appears, I will try to show it. 3

Dennis_C Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Oh my... a set of Sabres is likely my first 2025 purchase! 1
TheKinksFan Posted January 30 Posted January 30 "At this year’s event, we will unveil an exciting 1/72 scale aircraft model kit", from facebook (Kaena Models page). Does this refer to F-86a or something else? Seems to me that it's something else, as F-86a is already old news and test build photos of it have already been posted.
nedburt Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Looking forward to getting it, now if someone would do a F-86H in 1/48, that would complete my collection. Collect Aire did a 1/48 F-86H but it's all resin and needs work. 1

Im with you 110%, plus if you can find a Collectaire kit you’d need to sell half your internal organs or your first born child to own it. Considering no more will ever be made. I believe all of the molds, designs, and equipment were all destroyed by a forest fire in California a few years ago.

I think you are confusing them with Fisher. Their home was in Paradise CA which burned down in a huge fire some years ago. Collect-Aire was located in Massachusetts IIRC 1 1

Trenton guy Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Mine came yesterday, direct from Clear Prop. Looks every bit as nice as the photos. The 15 part cockpit (not including ejection seat) looks a little intimidating. Not a lot of alignment guides. Much test fitting in the fuselage as I go looks mandatory. Getting it all together and finding the fuselage won’t close fully due to early on alignment issues is a real bummer, as happened to me with the the Special Hobby 1/72 Bf-109E’s. Intimidated or not, I’m going to get stuck right in.
dimaADA Posted February 5 Posted February 5 (edited) 9 hours ago, Gene K said: A really clean build highlighted by your excellent photography! Have you painted and decaled it yet? No. It was a test assembly. It did not suggest painting and decaling. But very soon I will begin another assembly, where everything will be in full. Edited February 5 by dimaADA 1
