So looking forward to this. Another USAFE bird crossed of the list.

Wow I seem to have missed this whole discussion. But excellent news and nice to see correct-looking airbrake openings on a 1/72 Sabre fuselage. Hopefully this can be a basis for later versions too, or a benchmark for other producers to match.

This looks fabulous Duncan.

Better get one or two on our Christmas list Stuart @Courageous?

Me too! I was hoping it would be out for Telford!

Just received a test shot and it looks awesome! Pretty much a scaled-down version of the 1/48 kit, so the detail is exquisite.

I never did get a Matchbox one & I'm glad I didn't. 😊 I will get one if these though. 👍

Steve.

I did and am going to build it to appease the modeling gods so this one shows up sooner.

I bought it when it first came out (Scalemates says 1976) and couldn't understand some of it, even then. Like why it didn't look like a Sabre, why the windshield looked that way, and why the jetpipe was so small.

I still don't really understand what Matchbox did back then because all the other kits I made of theirs looked like the subject. It really is an awful thing Steve, so don't fret at missing out.

Are you going to be able to do more than just one of the early versions like the 1/48 kits?

Not sure, but three versions of the gun blast panels are included in the kit, and two intake configs.

Wow, I can't wait & I'm really hoping for an F-86H in 72nd,

Cheers,

Special Hobby did one with two release’s. I know they're hard to come by and supposedly have some issue’s. Id take either scale for a Hog. I already have decals for a New York ANG hog in 1/48th.

I've had two & Ebay'd them; the shape of the nose looks off & the Cockpit/canopy is I think too far back from the nose, it looks the part in 72nd but we need a new Hog in 72 or 48th,

Cheers J.

The SH F-86H canopy is too tall and the windshield at too steep an angle; the nose section is too long also. I have one in the stash but just keep putting it back each time I think of giving it a go.

Of course, when/if you do give that one a go, we will all get a masterclass on how to turn it into a decent 1/72 H ....................... well I can dream surely 🤞

Exquisite detail and excellent moulding. Thanks @Sabrejet.

How I wish they could "gift" us with a D or K like this!

Well we have awesome F-86Ds in 1/72 (Hasegawa), 1/48 (Revell/Monogram) and 1/32 (Kitty Hawk), so I think there's no need. F-86K too in 1/32 by KH and IIRC one in 1/48 by Must Have.

Yes, sure. But still no K in 1/72 that I know of. Am I missing something?

Special Hobby and Azur. I'm not familiar with either so can't comment on quality.

Because many Hasegawa kits are not sold on big H and some other European shops we may forget about them. Is this one of the more modern style with recessed panel lines?
