PhantomBigStu Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 I’m so glad I decided to not commit to the f-86a conversion in the current STGB 1
TEMPESTMK5 Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Very good news The old Matchbox kit needed to be replaced Patrice 1
Dennis_C Posted September 1, 2024 Posted September 1, 2024 Do I get it right that F-86A and F-86E were the major variants for Korea? How different is E compared to A other than the full moving stabilisers?

stevehnz Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Excellent news. Hopefully I can retire my Pavla F-86A canopy to the redundant aftermarket home when this comes out. Steve.

Plus the stabs are different, the a had the old style elevators instead of the flying tail, hence the area was beefed up to house the mechanism 1

The prominent strakes on F-86E and later were simply there to provide a vertical surface for the moveable tail to work against. There's not much beneath them! 5
JFM148 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Great news ! Call me crazy, but I won't get rid of my Matchbox kit....Maybe I will buy this one and if the CP kit has more than one option on the decal sheet, I will build both.... 2
72modeler Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Be still, my beating heart! I'm glad I held off on their 1/48 F-86A. Keeping eyes, fingers, and toes crossed that they follow the 1/72 kit up with an early E as well as a late E and F-10. I was surprised, but not all that disappointed , that they didn't offer an open LH ammo bay and door as an option, but I'm sure the aftermarket are preparing them as we speak. Not complaining, mind you, as we have waited so long for a decent F-86A in 1/72 or 1/48. CP is going to sell a TON of them, and good for them! Mike Thank you, Duncan, for all that you have done to make this kit possible. 3 2
Sabrejet Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 Coming soon: note THREE configurations of machine gun blast panel and two different intake versions. 19 6 7
Trenton guy Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 As I live and dream!!! Couldn’t ask for more. Still hoping that the 1/72 schemes will be the same as the 1/48 ones. 3
Robertone139 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Not familiar with early Sabres, why the two intakes?
Borisz Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Mate, a few weeks ago you already started an other topic for this!

Lightningboy2000 Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Stunning! Can't wait, & yes, hope the decal sheet is the same as the 1/48!
72modeler Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Be still, my beating heart! I just got the 1/48 kit yesterday, and it is outstanding, but the 1/72 kit looks to be even better by catering to three variations versus the two of the 1/48 kit. Even if they don't do an early F-86E or F-86F-10 as a revised tooling at a later date, you could always take this kit and cut the rear fuselage at the break pint and add the one from a Fujimi, Academy, Hobbycraft, or Airfix, but I would pick one that has the correct shape to the speed brake and speed brake well to be the donor! TEMPESTMK5 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Good morning Sabrejet Thank you very much for the pics 👍 Best regards Patrice 1
PhantomBigStu Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Wonder if they can be persuaded to sell the wing sprue individually given the lack of narrow slatted wings ok the market…. 1
