It's time for a new project. No commission build this time but a bit of a redemption project for myself. I struggled with the water section in the R35 diorama and i learned from it. Now i want to do a new diorama with water to see if i can do better.

I recently bought this set from Tamiya.

The panzerkampfwagen IV ausf. F. It comes with a crew and a motorcycle with driver.

I want to do a new DAK project and this is the right kit to do it.

Not shure yet what the layout will be but let's build this kit first.

Beeing Tamiya it almost falls together by itself. Every part fits like a glove. And there is little to no flash or cleanup to do. I love it after a couple of complex builds.

This is were i'm at right now.

I think i'm going to enjoy this one.

Feel free to tag along for the ride.

Cheers! 👍👍👍

Nice start, do you get a full crew for the Pz IV?

Welcome @robw_uk yes, it comes as a full set with tank, motorcycle, tank crew motorist and an infantry tank rider. 6 figures in total. All new molds.

Welcome @Stef N. and @Hamden

Always great to have you guys around.

Well, what's not to like here?  I'll be topping up my coffee, grabbing some snacks, taking a seat and copying @Stef N.'s notes!

Looks good already ..... 👌

A very small update. I found some time in between cleaning the house, cleaning the roadbike and some shopping to add a bit more plasic parts to the tank. I made all the roadweels, returnrollers, drivesprockets and the iddler weel. And after that i started with the assembly of the upper hull. Like i said before, this beeing a tamiya kit makes assembly so much easier. Everything just lines up perfectly and parts only fit one way so there is no risk of error.

All the weels are dryfitted. Once the link'n length tracks are in place i will glue the weels to the track to make one subassembly.

So, that's it for now. Maybe a bit more building tomorow although the weather will be nice for a bike ride..... we'll see.

Cheers guys!

Hi Maddoxx,

Good start, taking into account what you say about the more than proven quality of Tamiya and your capabilities, we will soon see something finished...😁

Good walk 🚲.

Cheers

So, a little bit more work done today. It was all about bits and bobs. Adding the tools and putting the upper and lower hull together.

The tools have the clamps molded on. I went ahead and drilled all the clamps to give it a bit more of a detailled look.

After all the tools were done and added to the kit i started with the assembly of the main gun. Nothing fancy, just simple modeling.

And after 2 hours this is where i'm at.

Just a clean looking panzer 4.

I'm thinking of packing this thing  with stowage. Maybe i'll scratchbuild a rack to the back. I got a boatload of jerrycans and boxes in the spares box so we'll see what we can add.

Tomorow is track day. Let's get those subassemblies done.

I'll keep you guys posted

Cheers!!! 👍👍👍

Might it be best to settle for a panzer 4 load of jerry cans and boxes - for your panzer 4?

Another great project btw.

Oh very nice project you’ve got lined up. Kit looks very cool, the box arts quite enticing. Interested and curious to see what’ve got planned with the water element of the base.

(As opposed to a boatload?)

Actually i was thinking of a shitload.... but this is a decent forum so boatload seemed to be the best description, however maybe a panzer4 load might be better..... Can't recall ever seeing pictures of a panzer4 with a boat on top 🤔🤔🤔

Bit more progress to report. Last couple of days i squeezed in some benchtime here and there.

I added a stowage rack to the back made from plasticard and leftover PE.

1000026370.jpg

1000026371.jpg

It's far from perfect but it will do the job.

Then i started playing around with stowage adding boxes, jerrycans, a fueldrum and some tarp.

1000026494.jpg

1000026496.jpg

1000026495.jpg

Also the 2 spare weels on the side are not oob.

This concluded the build of the tank so i proceeded with the motorcycle and all the figures.

I added a bit of extra detail to the motor. Brake wires, heat resistent cloth around the exhaust pipes and the gear levers.

Also the biker recieved some extra love adding some bits to his body.

1000026508.jpg

1000026509.jpg

1000026511.jpg

Then it was time to assemble the tank crew and the rifle man that is hitching a ride.

The quality of the figures is great. Tamiya really made a big step forewards with molded figures. I think they really are of the same quality as Masterbox or Dragon.

I still have to attach the wires to the headphones so that's a fun little job. Apart from that, it's all done.

1000026515.jpg

I also added the binoculars. There will be additional stowage placed on the turret.

And here is the whole scene

So now everything is ready for the next stage, painting.

I like the stowage and the figures, and the extra detailing on the motor bike is first class. Nice work Maddoxx.
