Chris951 Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Not sure how many of you either have bought from or lust after some of their stuff but Accurate Armour have just announced that they are shutting down next year. Quote We have decided to close the doors of Accurate Armour Limited next year and I will then retire from model manufacturing and Rob will pursue a new career. The closing process has now started and we are in Phase-1. All items marked in green on our website are available to order as usual, and many will continue to be made until production casting ends in a few weeks time. There will be a lot more to say at later dates but today we are just getting the message out. Thank you for reading and best wishes. Derek Hansen. 2
Kingsman Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) Well colour me shocked. And my card balance in danger.......... Nothing on their home page about it as of now. Edited August 23, 2024 by Kingsman correction
bootneck Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 That is sad news. I won't be able to save enough funds to get the remaining items that I want/need by the time Derek retires. Mike
Bullbasket Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Sad news indeed. I wonder if they'll still attend Telford in November. John.
evilbobthebob Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 That's very unfortunate. I wonder if they will sell their moulds to another business.
tony007 Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Does anyone know when next year they are closing up shop?
Mike Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 That's a shame, but several of what I'd imagine were their best sellers from their range have been supplanted by plastic kits these days, but they do still do some great stuff for those with the bravery to tackle full resin kits. If I had the time and money, I'd have more of their stuff in my collection 1 1
sandsmodels Posted August 28, 2024 Posted August 28, 2024 not surprised, they started around the same time as i did and they were older than me, running a resin casting model business is getting harder all the time, brexit did not help and the sudden upsurge in order due to covid did not last long. as you get older you do have to think about stopping at some point, not easy when you start from scratch. i always admired AA models and always had a good look at them at truck n tracks shows when we traded there, although in a different scale than mine i could see the amount of work that went into them. good luck in the future chaps. 3

When Takom Brought out the 432 AA started selling conversion kits for it based on their own 432 kit. On 27/08/2024 at 13:47, tony007 said: Does anyone know when next year they are closing up shop? ivan-o Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 Closed for orders till the 6 th September due to large demand!
bigfoot Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Looks like AA might not be reopening its store after saying it would reopen on 9th September. Current message is they will reassess in October as to whether they will do a final order before closing. Disappointing if like me you weren’t quick enough to get an order in before the store closed as might not get a chance now. 1

Likw wise, I wanted to order some resin tracks for my Tamiya M8 for the current GB but as you say unable to order anything. It must be quite galling that you say that are closing down then suddenly everyone wants your products. I wanted to do a decent order. Hopefully they will reopen after the initial mad rush. Must be a few like you and I, Bigfoot.
sanfrandragon Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I should have learned my lesson from Wingnut Wings; stop prevaricating and buy what I want whilst it’s still available. I hope they re-open to clear out the stock as there’s a couple of their less popular offerings that I wish I had ordered.
ivan-o Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Email today, after a four week wait my CET was dispatched today🤗
Kingsman Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 (edited) This is their current situation from their website today. Both are slightly contradictory as one says the site is aimed to re-open this month while the other suggests that the decision to re-open has not yet been taken. ivan-o Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 They are still dispatching orders, took 5 weeks! And this was ordered the day they said about closing.

The one who ordered first was still waiting for his as of the last time we spoke, last week, whereas one who ordered later has his. I'm presuming they are casting new casts to meet orders as their website doesn't show stock levels, just available or not. That will slow order fulfilment down. 1
ivan-o Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Lots of kits have gone off the web page now,so who knows about a final casting run? Sharpscale Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Such a shame but a very understandable decision. I've never built an AA kit, but would have loved to build their Foden 6x6. That probably wont happen now!
tony007 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Just been on the site today and every item is in red! They must be doing a stock check before final orders(hopefully). 1
