Ginetta G4 Series 2

That looks excellent, as ever! For the seals, I have some thin matt black tape by Kyosho which is intended to be used for panel lines on r/c bodies. It’s tough, sticky, flexible and very narrow (0.7mm and 0.5mm wide). Of course it is flat tape rather than a cylindrical seal, but it’s very well behaved around curves…

best,

M.

That’s looking very nice Jörgen, very clean and tidy.

For the seals, it may be worth looking at the tubing that Tamiya supply in their 1/12 kits for cabling and pipe work.

Best regards

Keith.

Thanks a lot Matt!

Sounds like an interesting and useful material, I'll keep a note. I think I need something more round here though, I'm trying some wire I found right now, we'll see if it works.

Painted lead wire?

I have thought about that too, it will probably be my second option if this fails.

That looks really good with the roll hoop and hardtop in place.

Trevor

Thanks a lot Trevor, I'm glad I did take the chance doing it.

You're braver than me drilling into an almost built model, but (as we've pretty much come to expect by now) you've made it work very well.

Thanks a lot. It's not something I'd recommend doing. I always preach something like "Think first, plan well ahead, dry build everything, then paint etc". However I'm apparently not always following that myself...

Thanks a lot Keith!

There might be something there indeed. We'll see where my first attempt ends.

Never throw anything away that has the slightest remote chance to be useful some day, and if you do anyway, first break it apart to see if there is anything useful inside. In a large bag of saved wiring stuff I found this loom from a scrapped lap top. There are thin soft black cables just above 0,3 mm in diameter. Worth a try.

I taped the end and a first section in place, then started to apply thinned Kristal Kleer with a 10/0 brush along the joint, little by little, section by section as it dries.

I’ve come this far and it’s time for coffee. I can just hope it will be OK and secure when I cut the ends...

Not perfect,

For a Ginetta, I'd say that is pretty realistic! It looks really good to me!

And that cheesenoard has already proved worth its weight in gold!! :)

Have I mentioned how much I appreciate this rotating marble stone cheese board placed at eye height level when dealing with wheel fitting like those wheels? Yes? OK, I will do it again then....

Looks really promising and I like paint shade, it doesn't look quite realistic.

Thanks a lot Vesa!

The colour is a bit warmer yellow than my photos in these conditions show. We'll see what it becomes in the photo cube later, or outside perhaps.

I am very happy with the wheels too, they may turn up somewhere more...

Another really neat job and an innovative solution too.

Many thanks!

It's so nice to be able to turn an absolute flat surface around 360 degrees right before your eyes without rocking things around. Worth every penny and trouble.

Wow, I go away and come back to a finished model!

It looks fantastic, although I am really missing the pink leopard print cloth..............

M.

Thank you very much Malc!

Oh the pink leopard print is still never far away, you have just been unlucky here, I'm sure it will pop up again 😎

Not much remaining then. The last parts have been fitted during the afternoon. First the exhaust and the spring clamps.

G4_105.jpg

Then it’s turned over for the rear lights and license plate.

G4_106.jpg

And last the mirrors on their brackets.

And after some minor touch ups it’s all done.

Entirely as I suspected it might, this has turned really well.  The colour really stands out and provides an excellent contrast for the small details.  The black laptop wire for the seal around the hardtop is a prime example.  Another top quality build!
