Ginetta G4 Series 2

Its looking fab!

I do like a set of Revolutions, we had them on the trailer to match the race car.

Revolutions and Minilites are kind of timeless.

Nope, you're wrong , has to be MInilites....!!!  :tease: 🤣

(I'd have had Minilites on every car I've owned if I could - wonder what they'd look like on a boring Suzuki Vitara?! :rofl2: )

And whatever wheels Jörgen choses, they'll no doubt look just right!

Certainly do! But then so do MInilites....!! 🤣

Like the colour of the Europa!

Keith

Thanks a lot Keith!

The Europa is an old (I realise even if it doesn't feel like that) build dating from around when Tamiya first released the kit. Can't remember why the choice fell on that green, probably a jar I had around.

Thanks a lot Andy!

The Revolutions would be a perfectly suitable choice as well, but the Minilites are staying on the Ginetta, I just had to get the Revolutions out of my mental system when the tyres where now done.

Minilites on a Suzuki Vitara... Well I think there are probably very few cars that would be shamed by a set suitable Minilites, but there may well be more cases of a set of Minilites being shamed by the car... Where exactly a Vitara would place itself I'll have to pass judgement on for the moment... 😎

So, there will still be Minilites on the Ginetta, while the Revultions are for an upcoming build of a certain very early Lotus Europa S2...

Revolution on an Europa....great choice

A couple of years ago a dark green one with this setup lived in the same village as me was always a joy to see it

Great progress, love the wheel production !! I have a set of 13" Revolutions for a future Mini project. The latest mirrors are also very nice and suit the car well.

Atb, Steve.

Thanks a lot Steve!

A set of Revolutions is pretty much like Minilites; they will improve almost anything 😎

I have now cut the vac forms and thinned out inside the hardtop to get a good fit. The hardtop was thin and fragile before, and it’s even more so now...

I’m waiting for some new old stock tins of hardener for my favourite primer surfacer. They should arrive the coming week, then I can start painting.

Well done on not breaking that hardtop - it looks so thin i could imagine it breaking just from breathing on it.

Thanks a lot, I'm almost out of breath still 😁

I know the answer will be very carefully,  however what method did you use to thin the hard top with? - Andy

The Dremel at the lowest speed and a very sharp round (ball shaped) rotating file, about 2-2,5 mm diameter. The sharper the tool the less force needed. That's where much of it is think; sharp tools that works with little force/pressure applied. Steady hands held together, like when fine detail painting. And yes indeed, very carefully... 😎 If it make any sense...

I could really do with a pair of those, any idea where I can get some online? :)

Have to agree with the others, excellent work on not destroying the hardtop!

In-between work commitments yesterday and today I have also got some painting done. Most parts are finished and the bodyshell and hardtop is in primer as the awaited hardener has arrived. Good to be back on the usual track with that.

All the parts painting before assembly is now finished.

Although I have raided my collection of decal sheets and spares for anything useful for this build, it couldn’t provide everything. So a little image searching, some drawing and preparation and then printing was called for.

And we have yellow sprayed on the body and hardtop. I’d say it’s just a slightly warmer yellow than it looks at least on my screen.

That looks really good.  Love the colour, and the decals look fantastic, especially the Ginetta and Minilite markings!

Great paintwork!  beautiful finish - I admire the Dremel work on the hard top too.  That must have been a bit scary.
