Heather Kay
Oh, that’s sad news about Molly. It’s amazing to me how we let these creatures of entirely different species share our lives, and they become so much part of our families. I'm not looking forward to the time when our Billy-puss leaves us, even though he is the fifth rescue cat we’ve loved. He’s coming up for 13 years old, and will definitely leave an enormous puddytat-shaped hole in our lives one day. Hopefully, it won’t be for a good few years yet.
CedB
Thanks Whofan, Biggles and Heather. Losing a pet is hard; not only do they do become part of the family but they set some routines that take a long time to forget. I still look for her wagging when I come downstairs in the morning. It'll pass, I know… I'll leave the avatar then. Nice memory. Anyway, back to models. Does this count as 'closed up'? This has been painted, honest: I decided to use the starter set brushes. That may not last. And I had my first 'bound to happen' painting the 33 matt black: Done: Ooh look, a stand! First time I've used one of those for years but it's occurred to me that, if I sort out some display cabinets for the new man cave, it may give me the option of wheels up for some models. Hmmm.
Mattlow
Good to see you back in the saddle Ced.. I enjoy tagging along, watching your builds progress. Sorry to hear about Molly, I'm sure she had a great life with you, and that's what it's all about in the end. I'm amazed you're using that paint... it looks like some sort of gloopy condiment in a café... Matt 1
giemme
So sorry to heat about Mols, Ced! It counts as closed up, sure Ciao
Billy54
So sorry to hear about your four legged rascal, like you said they become part of the family. Glad to see you are painting and gluing plastic again.

CedB
Thanks Matt, Giorgio, Billy and Roger. Page turned: OK, I cheated with the stand but thought it might help later. Can you see it has the Airfix logo on it? How about now: Thinned white dropped into the logo. DO NOT zoom in!

philp
Sorry to hear about Molly. Sending my last two mutts across the rainbow bridge was extremely hard, especially with loosing my youngest son in between them. Definitely the hardest year of my life. Good to see the build progressing and the use of the stand. Not sure if you saw my last build, also an Airfix with a stand. Terry1954
Welcome back Ced! So sorry to hear about Molly. Must you change the Avatar I wonder ............ a nice tribute to Molly if you kept it. Just a thought. 10 hours ago, CedB said: In the bar? Perhaps I'll join you. Just for a couple (har har). Bill, you, just a couple, and a bar are words that don't make sense! Ask me how I know! Nice choice of subject. A simple build for your interim habitat I'd say. Hope all goes well, and at least Leicestershire is closer to Jim's place than Bath, for when we next get up there together. I guess I need to finish that P-51 to give us a reason! Now are you sure you can remember how to do this modelling stuff? Terry 3
Navy Bird
Sorry to hear about Mols. My daughter had to put down both of her dogs (used to be ours) last year - six months apart. Devastating. Good progress on the 35. I'm waiting for the C version (hey, Navy is my first name) in 1:72 scale, and it appears the new Italeri offering won't be it. Unless, of course, I want to sand all those raised RAM panels away. Same for the older Orange Hobby kit. Someday maybe... Moving, eh? Hope there will still be room for some silly Yanks if they drop by. Wifey and I thought about moving once, but the thought of another mortgage derailed that idea. We spent the money on some cemetery plots instead. Cheers, Bill 3

silverfox63
Ced, I feel your pain, having had to do the same thing with our last dog 10 months ago. If you feel up to it, a new dog does help ease the pain, but maybe wait until after the move. Cheers, Chris. 1
perdu
Mols, I'm going to miss her too. Very sad times when you have all the other stuff going on mate, so sorry. Terry I resemble that remark... 1 1

heloman1
Good to see you back. House move not easy as a modeller, packing built kits and the stash. After a move of over eighteen months ago, I only got my own work table back into action last week. Some stuff still has to be unpacked. Then there are repairs where I didn't pack well enough! Enjoy the build... Colin 1
Mr T
Good to see you back. I am sorry about Molly, a good age for a dog, but still a huge loss. We are not sure how old Wilf our rescue cat is, but is clearly not in the prime of life, and I dreading the inevitable moment. I hope the house move goes well.
Marklo
Sorry to hear about Molly. It is hard to loose a pet. BTW my avatar is my Cat Pip who is now ling dead. We’ve actually had two cats who didn’t last that long but we now have a pair of stray kittens since he died. 2
81-er
I'm sorry to hear about Molly, Ced, pets leave a big hole in our hearts. The pain is proportional to the joy they brought us, so she clearly brought you and the family a lot of joy in your years together. I also feel you on the downsizing, my parents went from a big 5 bed to a 3 bed bungalow after 41 years, they'd accumulated A LOT of stuff The F-35 is coming along well James 1

I like that build. So much in fact I looked for it on the Airfix site. 3D printed eh? I don't have a printer, sadly. Perhaps when we move into the new house, next March or April, I'll buy a printer and build one. Maybe 😆😆😆 (fool me once…) 19 hours ago, Terry1954 said: Welcome back Ced! So sorry to hear about Molly. Yes, closer to Jim, Telford, Bill etc etc. I need to start Jim's Jug sometime. Not just yet though. 16 hours ago, Navy Bird said: Sorry to hear about Mols. I agree moving is hard but now you've made me worry about the packing. I think I used enough 'peanuts', or did I? Stuff is our problem at the moment. Well, to be honest, SWMBO's stuff. I only have essential things, honest. Like my modelling assistant: "I am Groot"! Oh, and my Useless Box. And the flapping seagull. Oh, OK, but it's nice stuff. 7
CedB
Some progress too. Future modellers beware this join: You need that locating pin and its flush on the other side. Yikes. Done: The instructions say to paint the bottom (fnaar) now so out with the, er, paint? Gloopy. Thinned with water and some flow improver I've brushed on a first coat: Yes, I have unpacked my Tamiya brushes. Using the starter kit ones for this area is just potty.
perdu
Looks good for gloop Ced, mind you I rather like using the starter set brushes for 'everyday stories of painty stuff.' But, like you not for everything... I went to my first model show of the year on Saturday, let's consider that an appetite whetted for Telford. 2

The Spadgent
Mr B!!!! 🐝 You’re back but in compact form. 😀 I like it. Sorry to hear about Mols, that’s really got to hit hard. 😔 hope you and the family are ok. Great choice of kit. I have an italleri 1/48 one waiting to be built. (Not sure that one had a flag decal either? ). You could paint it? Eh @giemme 😋 Nice to have you back building, and the first few steps have gone rather well. I’ll pull up a bean bag full of packing peanuts and order a red wine. 😉😍 Johnny 2 1
