ModelingEdmontonian
I have my Paraguayan T-6 stalled for a bit, and I started an Ecuadorean P-35 last week, but I'm going to see if I can also manage to get a Peruvian P-36 across the finish line. She'll be another of my Sexy American Singles in South American Service (and if I manage to complete all three of these that will complete my project!). Here's the map of my project, in case of interest (Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and Bolivia are all complete already): This is the kit I'll use . . . . . . which includes the Peruvian scheme out of the box. I found a photo online. Edited September 29 by ModelingEdmontonian
RidgeRunner
An excellent addition to the line up, MM
RidgeRunner
A word of caution, MM. The schematic for decal placement etc has the rudder and lettering/numbering in White. However, look at your photo and compare the white of the roundel to those areas.

Good catch, @RidgeRunner There are three sprues in this kit, the first two are the "basic" ones and the third one the -G sprue. This is the decal sheet. And the clear sprue:
ModelingEdmontonian
I've chopped the sprues up and removed most of the pieces I won't need and gave the remainder a bath. I next prepped some pieces to spray some rattle can black. Here they are, all black. I painted up the engine. And started work on the cockpit.
ModelingEdmontonian
This is going to be among the rougher kits I've attempted, but in a way that means getting the fuselage together is far more satisfying than it would be otherwise! Some putty, lots of sanding, some cutting and drilling, but at the end of it all the halves went together with a variety of parts stuck in between! Wings next... ModelingEdmontonian
Wings and stabilizers are on! I've also drilled out the MG holes in the cowling and wings, as well as the pitot tube hole and underwing light.
opus999
Nice to see a Norwegian option among the decals! I like your choice, I think its going to look really nice.

I like your choice, I think its going to look really nice. cheers, @opus999; would love to see someone build a colourful Norwegian Hawk! You really cannot take anything for granted with this kit, as I realized when I looked at the exhaust piping. This is what the underside of the cowling looks like. I think those parallel "troughs" are intended for the exhaust, but I'm not certain. And these pieces are the pipes. I've had difficulty finding a good photo of what this should look like on a P-36G, but clearly just gluing these pieces onto the underside is not accurate. After looking at a variety of information, I began cutting.... first holes for the piping to go into... Then the pipes go in . . . And then I drilled the pipes out. I am not sure how close to accurate this is, but I feel like it must be a good approximation. A lot of work, but a bit rewarding in the end, to be honest. Just no one tell me this is horribly wrong, please 😆 Meanwhile, some other peripheral pieces (i.e., machine guns, UC pieces, pitot tube, head rest, and tail) are ready for priming.
opus999
I can't say whether the pipes are wrong or right, but they look terrific so that's what counts!
ModelingEdmontonian
Alright, there are still ugly seams and steps and other issues I don't want to think about anymore, so let's go prime her.
ModelingEdmontonian
All primed, along with the Ecuadorean P-35 that I'm also building...

ModelingEdmontonian
I started painting the headrest . . . . . . and the UC doors . . . . . . and got some neutral grey on the underside and wheel hubs.
ModelingEdmontonian
More-or-less finished on the underside. Started on the olive drab on top. Meanwhile I got the wheels done, I went with aluminum inner rims and neutral grey outer.
ModelingEdmontonian
I'm nearly done with the Olive Drab... AZ thinks there are some dark green patches, as well, such as behind the 286; I can see what they're seeing, but I have not quite decided how to handle that myself, yet.... The other challenge I'm having is the port window seems to need a hole drilled in it for access to the fuel tank. I've never drilled through clear styrene and I'm not so sure if I want to risk it.

(obviously the framing will need some touching up, though!) Meanwhile I'm mostly done with the Olive Drab and I have aluminum on the upper and lower control surfaces. Slow going because I haven't had as much modeling time as I would like, but I think she's on pace to get done before the (extended) deadline!

ModelingEdmontonian
I have the upper cockpit painted up, a few other bits here or there, and a coat of Pledge on top now. Should be almost ready for decals, so I cut those out. Really wish this was moving along faster, but time at the modeling table has been difficult to find!
RidgeRunner
Hi ME. It looks like she’s on course :). Looking great, By the way.
ModelingEdmontonian
A few decals on... they aren't very good quality, but nothing especially terrible.
ModelingEdmontonian
I have all the decals on now. I borrowed walkway black from the spares.
ModelingEdmontonian
Home stretch! UC completed last night--15 pieces for the UC all told!! But, actually it went together better than I expected. The kit MGs were lousy, so I decided to toss them and use some brass ones I had in the spares. So I painted them up this morning. Meanwhile I took her outside to spray a matt coat. I somewhat regret using those decals on the underside (not the roundels, the other ones--not even sure what they're for), but oh well. Getting close and I think this one will make it across the finish line!
ModelingEdmontonian
Calling her done! Certainly not the highest quality kit I've ever worked with, but I've wrestled her into something somewhat satisfactory. Cheers!
