One of the biggest white spots in 1/72! Tigercat has not been released by anyone in plastic for almost 30 years since the last rerelase of Ancient Monogram kit by Revell in 1995.

Brilliant news has anyone built a fly kit before what thay ilke

I built their Bf-108. Okay Czech short run. Fit was fine. I think kit contained pe fret and some resin providing some minor details in the cockpit and for exterior. I wonder if Fly gives resin engines for F7F.

One more interesting question - looks like they plan for all possible combinations: single and twin seaters, standard and night fighter noses, domed cabin for drones controller. Are they going to give us different fuselages for each option or they'd rather make it modular construction?

Pavla issued an F7F-3N under their Octopus brand in the early 2000s. Typical short run kit of the era, with a mix of plastic and resin parts. Plastic parts looked pretty nice in the box but since I haven't built mine yet I can't comment on fit

Giorgio, I think as soon as you start your Octopus F7F - the Fly kit gets released imminently!

That's sure!

Mind, I also have the venerable Monogram kit in the stash and I will certainly buy this Fly kit when it's released. Monogram is a 3, Octopus a 3N so I may get the Fly 2N to have different variants.

Or a 2D...  always loved the USN utility scheme!

One of the laws of scale modelling. To make sure that that kit you always wanted is released, you have to first start on the old, crappy one everybody hates.

Basically, someone needs to take one for the team.

Just had this experience with a ship kit. Built something from the 1960s, because I could no longer wait for a new one. Then, halfway through the worst build in my life, not only one but two new kits of the same ship became announced (one became available):

I welcome this with some trepidation... I only saw this mentioned somewhere else at a glance and initially thought it had said "Flyhawk" as the manufacturer... and thought "what an excellent choice after their SBD!"... but now that I see it's not them.  Just a slight bit disappointed. 😟

Pavla did a new-tool 1/72 F7F-3N and it is a very nice kit- I have one. If you can find the oop Kendall or Aires supersets, you will have everything you need to make the Monogrsm kit into a single seat F7F-3 or two seat F7F-3N with the pointed or bulbous radar nose- includes props, engines, cowlings, cockpits, wheel bays, etc..

Checked Scalemates and I see that. Looks like not a bad kit according to some kit reviews with plenty of parts in resin. Hope Mr.Muzikant who allegedly has these Pavla drawings does not hastily releases it to intercept Fly kit.

Hey, I did that. The PE portion of the Aires detail set is pants, by the way. You can forget about using any of the PE for the wheel wells. Use the Starfighter resin set instead - it's much nicer.

Cool stuff! I wonder if they will have a firebomber version at some point, or if we will be left to our own devices or the aftermarket for that.

My guess is the water tank will be a resin add-on item from an A/Market producer.
