Filler
I've seen quite a lot of the Australian break dancer in the last couple of days and her presumably mickey taking effort in Paris and if break dancing is now an Olympic sport, what chance of scale modelling being included? Imagine all the different categories; scales, brushed, airbrushed, with aftermarket, out of box, scratched etc. I wonder what the uniform would be like? Anyone imagine sitting there in a tight lycra ensemble emblazoned with your national flag and a 3M half face mask?
ckw
Not so far fetched. At the beginning of the 19th century, the resurrected modern Olympics had art competitions including architecture, literature, painting, music and sculpture. I think the big problem was the lack of an objective criteria (like distance or speed) to base judging on, but I would say many of the gymnastic events have the same problem to some extent. Noel Smith
I would imagine it would be a bit of a 'marathon' to get the IOC to agree to modelling as an Olympic Sport. Can you imagine it. Gold, Silver and Bronze for sticking a 1/24th scale Airfix Spitfire together in the quickest time? Lol.
