Mach2 1/72 Armstrong Whitworth Argosy

Recommended Posts

A very nice whistling wheelbarrow. (The name it was given in polite company) Well done for overcoming the kits shortfalls and welcome back from near death.

One to be proud of.  Such a pity there is not a better kit of it in the Gentleman's scale.  Have a lie down in a darkened room before starting the Comet.

That's a triumph!  It really looks good, and is genuine Argosy to me!

Regarding the Comet, be prepared to chop the wings along the chord line about halfway along the span and straighten them.  Also, strongly recommend that you purchase as much aftermarket resin as possible, including the intakes, engine exhausts, and wheels.

Thanks for the heads up, I've been having a read up so have got the resin exhausts and wheels sourced.

From personal experience I know the Argosy is not an easy build. Not only are there some of the common issues with Mach2 kits (flash, instructions, transperiences that aren't, fit), but it is a twin boomed aircraft. These are often not straightforward to set up. This one is mine from 2022. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235107127-172nd-raf-armstrong-whitworth-argosy-c1-mach2-kit-finished/

Superb! There’s nothing wrong with that at all, and given the standard of Mach 2 kits you’ve worked magic on it. Looks great in crud n’ custard too, the best RAF transport scheme in my opinion.

I wasn't going to post this as its no where close to most models posted on this site

I dispute that. It looks pretty good to me and at least as good as some of mine that I've posted. Nice work!

Very nice! It will look good on the shelf. I have a few Mach 2 kits in the stash and have never had the courage to start them, your build may inspire me to take the plunge

Looks great in the white and silver livery.👍

Super job.

A fine job on a tricky build, I’m sure. Having built a few of Mach 2’s finest myself, I can imagine it fought you a bit along the way but the end result is most definitely worth it!

Well done, that's a fine looking Argosy. I remember seeing one of these in the mid or late 70s just after the RAF phased them out of the transport role; I think one was used for navigation aid calibration for a while.

Hello

This really nice and as some of us I have already suffered with a Mach 2 kit. The plane is very interesting but I have not buy one so far.

My next Mach 2 kit will be the Douglas DC 8.

Cheers.

Patrick
