R34 Skyline V spec 2 Nur version

Recommended Posts

After building the Mustang GT4 I'm getting on with a Tamiya Skyline R34 Nur version in Millennium Jade. I don't normally build road cars as they don't interest me, but as it was bought for me I'm going to do it for the Asia GB in Zeros Millennium Jade paint as the Nur version, which I believe was the only version Millennium Jade was used on.

Prepped bodywork and mega priming session for all chassis stuff is all for now.

Ian 😀

Bodywork and wheels painted today in Zero paints Millennium Jade and wheel bronze respectively. Such nice colours that sprayed so well.

Thanks Chris, hoping it will really pop out once it's had a clearcoat and a polish 👍

Assembled all the chassis bits tonight as I didn't need to gloss clearcoat it first. Typical Tamiya fit quality 😀

Limited time this week with work, but half hours here and there and I've got the interior tub done. Interior is NATO black and tyre black highlights on seats. German grey as per instructions was too light compared to pics. Carpet is self adhesive dolls house carpet, had it for years but F1 and rally cars don't need it. 😀

Hopefully clearcoat body over weekend and nearly done then

Thanks Keith 😀

I didn't know that about the escorts, all the stuff I've seen and built never had any, but every day's a learning day 😀

Great use of colours on the interior and good call on German grey! Your scheme looks much better. And that dolls house carpet works a treat—must get some myself if still being sold…

Thanks 😀

Just had a quick check on Ebay for dolls house carpet and there's plenty available around £4 a sheet, which is ample for dozens of cars

Productive afternoon

Airbrush and booth cleaned and Zero 2K applied 😀

Really makes the colour come to life ️

Hey Ian, finish looks superb

Cheers Chris

Tbh, 2K is so easy to get a nice shiny finish on, just need plenty of ventilation as it stinks 🤣

It does more than that, it can kill you - if you want a scary read download the H&S data sheets on the stuff. I know modellers only use a small proportion of it compared to full size car painters but they also don't paint in full size ventilated booths wearing air fed masks.... :(

If there's one thing I hate about building road and rally cars, it's painting the window rubbers 😬

But now it's done on this one and the windows themselves masked and painted, also the bottom front spoiler.

Hopefully finish by the end of the week :)

Nearly done now, just a bit of cleaning a couple of bits of pva from the glass and a polish. Then some pics outside needed to show the paint at its best.

Ian 😀
