I apologise for my childhood not being hard enough.

I'm guessing you didn't live in a cardboard box in the middle of the road then?

Today I visited some charity shops in my town. There are seven of 'em.  I offered the models to them each, in turn.  Every single one declined for similar reasons that @bootneck mentioned earlier in the thread.  They have sharp edges and points.  Any bits that get knocked off could be swallowed by a small child.

So I took the first batch to the recycling centre today.  These were the ones that are now so dusty that they cannot be reasonably recovered.   It would be quicker to build a new model than to refurbish the old one.

Okay, it was a little sad.  But at least now I have three clear shelves.  :)

Not for me.  For most of my models.  I came back to the aircraft modelling side of the hobby just about twenty years ago.  With the obvious exceptions (models built for other people) I have never got rid of a finished model.  I decided to count them and gave up at the 400 point, with two more shelves to go.

You should have made vehicle models Enzo,  I have only recently moved over to those subjects but it seems that I've missed the boat on most, they've been and gone.  I would have 'helped' you to dispose of those.  :giggle:

cheers,
Mike

All my armour models have found a good home.  A mate of mine donated a Tiger kit to me for the recent Tiger STGB.  It went back to him when it was completed, together with the other three Tigers.  On Saturday he will be receiving another 40 armour models.  He's very pleased.

My next door neighbour is now the custodian of a 1/35 superdetailed Tempest II, a 1/48 Belgian F-104G and a 1/48 F-5A.  They will be presents for his dad's birthday.

And who wouldn't be? I hope he has enough shelf space.

I've seen his mancave.  He collects vinyl records, which aren't exactly lightweight when you have lots of them.  He has already relocated them to storage units on the floor, opening up a lot of shelf space.

I understand the problem as there is no way my comic book collection could ever be stored on shelves.  In an episode of "The Big Bang Theory" Leonard claims that he has 2500 comic books.  He has me beat but not by much...  :D
