The Spadgent
Well after the last debacle I needed some positive progress soo. I masking up on the flaps interior. And some colour. That’s really nice. 😃 can’t wait to start working into this now. 🙃 The decal codes on the tail. So much better. The other halves of the flaps. And pretty much anything else that needed a squirt of green. 🐸 I also primed and pre shade the prop. You can just see it in the background on that last and next shot. Also a pre shade on the replacement fuel tank. The shark making for that WILL be good. Or I’ll eat my airbrush. 😂🦈👄 Thanks for dropping in. in in the office tomorrow and fencing on Thursday so fingers crossed for Friday night update. 🫡 Take care and as always. Happy modelling. Keeff
Fantastic work as always ..... '77' has worked well, and it's a shame the tail fin didn't quite work out with the stencils, but a great save! Looking forward to more now! Keith ☺️ 1

Yes I’m glad at least some of the stencils worked. I don’t think free hand is the way to go with them.

The Spadgent
Sorry guys. It’s been a hectic few weeks at Chez Spadgent with one thing or another. The build has taken quite the back seat but there has been progress albeit at a slower rate than normal. I need to catch up with BM too but I’ll make a start by updating my thread. i must remember what was going on by looking at the pics i took and fill in the blanks as best I can. If I remember correctly we were hitting the weathering stage. Flory was splashed around. I still love flory washes a lot but I’ve found them off late to be a little heavy so most of it comes off and only the slightest areas are left. You can really see where it’s worked well on the fuselage. Now with that done time passed and I visited a new RPG store in the city that happens to stock all kinds of paint and what not. Ak filters and washes were purchased with the air of testing them out on a live project. 😬🤞 Now you’ll have to bear with me as I’m not 100% sure of what I’m doing but I do have a decent grasp of painting and artistic skills so with those tucked under my arm I began playing silly buggers. This is with a light sand filter added to where I thought light sand / dust might accumulate. And here on the underside you can see the flow of the filter. I painted roughly in the direction of travel. I’ll take some pics of the product themselves but the effect is subtle but it adds a lot of variation and believability to your models. (oh and I painted a scooby doo toy house for the wife’s Halloween decorations. 🎃) Any way. I wanted to deepen the edges of the inner flaps so I used some Tamily black panel liner. I smudged this around after the shot was taken to tone down the it’s affect somewhat. I did a similar pass on the ones in the aeroplane too. Now. I do like Tamiya panel line ink but I just can’t find it so I thought I’d try the AK stuff too. It comes in lies of colours much to the dismay of my pockets. Not sure if this is what you do but it works for this build at least. They don’t wick like the Tamiya stuff but they are enamel / spirit based. So I followed around where I wanted the darker browner areas to be. You can see it in the wing here. Then with a dry cue tip I faded the effect. You can dip your cotton wool in some white spirit and remove it all if you make any mistakes. (I glossed first obvs) so with that panel line and filter process in place I just went at it, but at a time and had some fun. If you zoom you can see the process of what I did but I think the overall effect is a nice natural used look. Here’s some underside pics with the nose flaps added. Oh and the spooky house got a black coat before making it onto the piano. 🤩 I’ll leave this post here for now. I am a few more steps on but I need to get back to work. 😇 Hopes you’re all having a splendid October. All question welcomed. And as always, Happy Modelling. Terry1954
Wot they all said re the weathering. Looks good. IMHO you are right to rub back those flory washes so as to minimise their appearance. Lovely job. Terry 1

The Spadgent
Spooky season continues. 💀👻🎃 and it wouldn’t be right not to go see Alice cooper and his simply amazing band. Wow!!! They never fail to impress. 🐍 But I guess you’re here for some plastic therapy huh. Ok here we go again. As promised these were the washes and filters I got my grubby mitts on. A mixed bag but they are a nice addition. As you can see here on the below landing gear. You can’t just slap it on and hope for the best. It’s a more measured approach but I like the look it gives. The other one got messed around with and then some brake lines added. Here in mid stick! While that dried I painted the spinner and props with metallics where I wanted the chips to be. This way I keep the shade. If you zoom in you can see where I have dabbed on some masking fluid to help the chipping fluid along. This then got some heavy chipping fluid added. While that dried I finished up the landing gear. And used some of the new products on the hubs. The “bits ‘n’ bobs” tm got a blue / grey coat. This included the new tank. And tother side. While the top coat dried I got the landing gear in. Warning if you’re going to make this kit they’re a tight fit. But they look good in place. Now where’s that big red nose? Oh come on we all know yellow gives a good base for red. 🍷🎈 And even though I warned @giemme about leaving it too long before chipping I went and left it over night. 🫣 Fear not adventurer , the masking fluid / water and cocktail stick combination tonight proved successful. Aaaand to end the night right I started on the mini shark mouth to keep @corsaircorp happy. 🤩🦈 Thanks for dropping by on such a dark and misty night. Hope you enjoyed the show. More soon from the crypt of …. Well little plastic aeroplanes and paint but let’s not let that stop the fun! 🧟🧟♀️🧟♂️ comments welcomed, until next time. Ghastly modelling spooky buddies. 🦇🌖 Johnny 16
