The Hannants London model shop is in Colindale in north London on the Northern underground Line HOWEVER the station is currently CLOSED until December. Please search Part Number COLINDALE for alternative ways to get to the shop....

The rest of the answer is, no, there's nothing.  The best I know on my side of London is Dorking Models (only open Thu-Sat but tolerably accessible by public transport, and Dorking's a nice town).

At least THEY still exist - they are the only survivor (apart form Big H) of the two-dozen shops that existed when I started reading SAM and SMI in the late 80s? MilSlides, TAHS, Tooting Models, TeeJay aka Comet, not sure where else I visited in the summer of '91, with an A to Z and no smartphone nav suite... I missed out on Russ (?), not far from TJ in Clapham - pity that!

Kit Krazy on Bexleyheath Broadway is still there as far as I know, and easy to get to from Central London… about a 20 minute suburban train ride. If you want a huge range of old kits in various condition, and prices to “negotiate” with the owner, then it might be worth a trip. Google “Kit Krazy Bexleyhearh” and you can find photos of what to expect…

best,

Matt

Hamleys in Reagent street used to have a model selection on the top floor, not sure if they still do,also they were a bit over priced.

Getting to Hannants and the RAF Museum. Best way is to get the train to Mill Hill Broadway (frequent services on the Thameslink line from St Pancras, Farringdon and Blackfriars. Can also get trains from London Bridge but probably need to change at Farringdon or St Pancras.) You can walk from MHB or get the 303 bus from the bus station beside the station. A bit weird as it’s underneath the M1. There’s a bus stop outside the RAF Museum.

Alternatively the Northern Line to Hendon Central and take the 136 bus

It's sad that London  has so few model shops. It's a huge city with a population comparable to many countries.

I did the Hannants, RAF museum visit back in the nineties. Earlier I  visited Beatties and a number of other  shops now long since gone.

Times  change.

They still do, mostly Airfix I believe.
