APA Posted September 29, 2024 Author Posted September 29, 2024 Slightly low mojo this weekend but I have delved deep and done some stuff Those balls on sticks for the front mudguards. Will be assembled and placed once the milliput has set properly. Bit of detail missing from the hoist added Started on some 17 pounder ammo boxes. Quite like this as a layout. We will see 🤔 1:1 scale is calling over the next few weeks but hopefully will get some time in when I can. Started thinking about the windows as I'll be scratching those and might scratch the wing mirrors as well 😁. The chain is in the post but will be a while as I assume it's coming from China!! Cheers all Andrew 16
APA Posted October 6, 2024 Author Posted October 6, 2024 Doesn't seem much done but I think this is it apart from the canvas which will be done after the main painting. Olive anyone? Little balls of Milliput with a 0.4mm hole drilled in. And every thing stuck on the mudguards. I dipped the balls in CA just to give them a smooth coat. And some scratch windows. These will be open so the kit ones, while ok if closed are way too thick if opened. Need some clean up but should look ok when fitted. They are sheets of 50um PET and strips of wine bottle lead seal. They are currently also covered in finger prints!!! Cheers all Andrew 13
Keeff Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 More neat work to add to the detailing ....... lovely work! Keith ☺️ 3
Bullbasket Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Very nice work with those width indicators Andrew. Probably because I'm not very observant, but I've never seen those on British trucks before. (Now, dozens of photos of so equipped trucks will appear). Great job on the windows too. Nice work. Not sure about the neat. Those windscreens may have to be done again. The CA glue ain't shifting! 11 hours ago, Bullbasket said: Very nice work with those width indicators Andrew. Don't do that to me! 😱I've just had to Google and make sure I haven't added a German mod! 🙄 Luckily yes the were original british fittings. Not sure of the period but they are there 🤗👍 Cheers all Andrew 3

APA Posted October 13, 2024 Author Posted October 13, 2024 Right! We're there. All done bar the canvas. I did scratch the 25lb cases but then plumped for a kit of 17lbr by Bronco. The main reason I did this is for these....... Lots of very detailed decals and the kit is actually very good. Glad I did. So the last things to do were the wing mirrors. There were a couple of styles and I went for the more intricate double arm ones Here she is all together (I did put the crane on after) Layout for the crates. I'll still use the scratch ones at the back. The only mod to the crates is cotton hand loops as opposed to the kit ones So the spray booth will be dusted off and the next time you'll see her is with the base SCC2 on. I'm thinking a disruptive pattern either SCC15 or G3. A good read of Mr Starmers bible is in order Cheers all Andrew 21 1

Keeff Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Looking great as is .... it'll almost be a shame to cover all that brass with paint, but I'm looking forward to seeing the transformation.... Keith ☺️
StuartH Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Outstanding work and I can't wait to see it painted 👏 Those ammo crates look the part too 👍

APA Posted October 26, 2024 Author Posted October 26, 2024 1:1 scale is now a little more sorted so on with the Scammell I have consulted the oracle (British Army Colours & Disruptive Camouflage in The United Kingdom, France and NW Europe 1036-45 by Mike Starmer) and decided on the scheme. As outlined by Camouflage Disruptive Painting of Vehicles Military Training Pamphlet No.20, June 1939 - Scheme 1 - Base Colour Khaki Green G3 with Disruptive Dark Green G4. This is an early pattern which doesn't have the full disruptive colour on the horizontal surfaces as seen in later patterns. Primed and highlighted with a white softened with a touch of buff Then base coat of Khaki Green G3 And the ammo cases all done in SCC15 Now the fun can really start 🤡 Andrew 12 3 2

PatrikF Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I'm watching this build closely. What a great attention to details. Looking forward for more

APA Posted December 29, 2024 Author Posted December 29, 2024 1:1 scale is all sorted so baxk to reality. Did a lot over the last couple of days. Put on the disruptive which is supposed to be a lot darkewr than this green but ho hum. Tires done, headlights done, decals done, gauges done, seats done etc etc. All basics are done . On to the finer points, some accenting and then on to the weathering. I mustn't forget the windscreens which are sitting in a little case plus the chains and block and tackle. I can't find any pics of what the ends of these chains looked like. Would they have just had a hook or a D eyelet or a specific chain arrangement? Here's how she's looking so far 11 5 1
