Bullbasket Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Poodles privates Andrew. I really like the way this is turning out. Nice work. John.
StuartH Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Superb work 👏 I like the mix of tyres...makes for an interesting look.
Hamden Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 More great workmanship and attention to detail! I think you may have two of the rear wheels/tyres on the wrong sides as two of the treads appear to be rotating the wrong way - I may be mistaken though Roger
Modelholic Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Thought I had the recovery version in my stash. but it's the IBG offering. Still going to follow this great build though. Does it matter that the rear tyre treads are different ways around? Tom
FrancisGL Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 Hi Andrew, Nice details on the cab cables, you leave nothing to chance... Cheers Francis 👍

Keith ☺️ It is isn't it 😁 I must get the recovery one 19 hours ago, Peter2 said: In the wartime photo of the captured Scammell, the front wheel looks like the deep-grooved rear tyres (photo seems slightly out of focus, so it's not definite). Does that mean the LZ replacement wheels also could be used in the front, if desired, instead of the inaccurate kit tyres? Just wondering. Hi Peter, Absolutely. The heavy tread where sometimes used in the front however it is a little pointless as they aren't powered. It's more like the captured ones used the more plentiful heacy tread. The Usual was to have the road type in the front. 12 hours ago, Bullbasket said: Poodles privates Andrew. I really like the way this is turning out. Nice work. John. Hence I went back to the kit tyres 😉👍🏻 11 hours ago, Hamden said: More great workmanship and attention to detail! Not surprised as I just waked things together for the photo. However that is a very handy heads up so I don't do it 4real 😉👍🏻 9 hours ago, Adler Leon said: Looking very impressive. Does it matter that the rear tyre treads are different ways around? Tom I believe IBG do all three versions as well. I've read somewhere that the Thunder are 'better' but who knows. I do have an IBG radio lorry in the pile which I need to get round to and will be interested in how the marque's differ. Looking for ward to your build Tom 😁👍🏻 If you do reverse them one wheel will go backwards and the other forwards so you go round in circles for ever - FACT 😎 but I'm sure it happened in reality occasionally, there is a pic of the transporter with plane tyres so anything goes. I'm no tyre expert but in reality not a lot would happen. These are pretty slow beasts so wont effect the road holding round corners. It probably would perhaps effect the grip a bit off road. From a modelling perspective it's difficult to show it as deliberate. It would just look obviously wrong. 7 hours ago, FrancisGL said: Hi Andrew, Nice details on the cab cables, you leave nothing to chance... Cheers Francis 👍 Cheers Francis, well I'm only just starting. Got some pipe work on the chasis to do and a few more cable here and there. There are also a few other details missing in the cab which I will add as well. The main basic build is pretty much done so now it's onto the details 😊 Cheers all Andrew 3
Shagohod Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 The detail is impressive. Very nice work so far!
Adler Leon Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 The IBG 1/72 scale Scammels have a lot of dimensional problems with the cab those beter informed than me suggest. No idea if the problems appear in the 1/35 th scale version, could be the 1/35 th one is correct and someone made an error when re scaling it. Quite a few threads on the Missing Lynx Braille scale forum on the subject. L

APA Posted September 8, 2024 Author Posted September 8, 2024 Had a few good days over the weekend and got lots done Added the rest of the detail to the cab. They had a couple of rifle clips on a crossmember which was missing. I'll hang a couple of kit bags of these. If you look closely at the bottom of the chair frames there are some wing nuts which hold them down. Replaced the kit strengthening panels with Brass sheet to be in scale thickness and added a fire extinguisher. And the windscreen wiper motors with droopy cables just so you can see it from the outside. Handles, wing nuts and springs for the air filter Added the cables and pipework which might be seen. More pipework and the exhaust drilled out. A pressure gauge missing from the kit And another one missing from the kit. I've cunningly modified the build so that the whole of the upper section can slot onto the chassis in one. Most of it is non visible mods. I'll paint it in these three parts. Only a couple of bits which will need to be added once fitted together. Wheels are now on. Just need to weight them a little. Three sections dry fitted for now. Rear will be completely scratch built. And one for the tyre tread counters - British service vehicle with heavy tread on all six wheels with the rear ones the wrong way round 😉🤣 Finally something I've been meaning to mention for a while. I've stocked up on these which are Clock Makers Oilers. These are cheap as chips and rough as nuts and no self respecting clock maker would be seen dead using them however they are perfect for CA application. Total game changer. So cheap they are practically disposable after a few uses but if you get the steel ones (Not the copper ones) the CA pulls off easily and you can re use. Cheers all Andrew 10 3 1

APA Posted September 15, 2024 Author Posted September 15, 2024 Close to the end now with work started on the rear Rear wheels turned around so they're the right way round now!! Headlights added which means the chassis is completed. Wheels are weighted as well. Storage cage added and modded with hinge loops added to the bottom and the support rod added which is missing from the kit. Also the side lights and weight disc slightly modded and added. Rear scratch built with working hinged rear. And as it will be in final position. Unfortunately the cable rollers are too high and interfere with the tailgate. The chassis will have to be raised about a mm or so These vehicles don't seem to get much damage but a few scratches won't hurt 😉 Finish the rear with the top section and lots of rivets plus a few little bits of detail and it's good to go to the spray booth. I was feeling pretty confident on the fit of the cab and chassis but I think there may be a few issues coming up!! 🤔🫣 Cheers all Andrew 13 4

Bring them on. Then I'll book mark them, as I am confident that you'll sort them out. At the moment, it's looking very good Andrew. John.
FrancisGL Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Hi Andrew, Wow!!, Terrific work, the amount of detail added and the skill to do it is incredible. I could never do something like that... Cheers Francis.👍
Keeff Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Wow! All that additional detail has really been worth the effort .... it looks fantastic! I like all the little things like the wing nuts on the seat frames and pressure guards.... You must be about ready for paint? Keith ☺️

APA Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 The rear is done. Phew! that was a lot more work than I was expecting. Had to take back the step inside the top so everything fitted. But we got there in the end. I also actually looked at what the rear gate looked like and put the floor end cross member. Now it all fits. I have upped the locators underneath a tad just to get a gap. Curtain rail added Lots of rivets added. Might change the cables. They are just a tad too big. I've got some 0.6mm wide on order so will see what they are like. Mudguards are kit but embellished a little to make them look more like the real thing. Other than that its all scratched at the back. Should be able to have a good view of the inside now the tailgate is down. Everything fits quit well now. Phew!! So I think it's just those funny balls on sticks they often had on the front mudguards which were to aid in tight spots I think. The curtains and rolls on the back and doors and the hoist and thats it. one more full day of modelling will get us to the spray booth 🤞🏻😁👍🏻 Cheers all Andrew 7 3
Hamden Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 An absolutely stunning build, your attention to the smallest detail is outstanding! Roger 1
