Pedro52
Afternoon all, my second build for the group is completely out of my normal build in both type and scale. 🤞 Plenty of material online courtesy of Mr. Hewes

PeterB
The first time I visited the Tank Museum in 1987, the turret and 183mm gun were on a patch of land by the entrance alongside what seemed to be their idea of a children's adventure playground. That was removed not long afterwards, perhaps due to health and safety concerns as having young kids crawling about inside battered tanks and turrets with sharp edges was perhaps not a really good idea - I gather that it has since been mated with a spare hull. I see that they call it "Stage 2" and seem to remember that what might therefore be called "Stage 1" had an open gun mounting for test purposes, but I may be wrong. Apparently, at one stage it was mounted on a Mk 12 hull for display purposes but last year was put on a correct Mk 3 hull and is in running order.  I will watch with interest as both myself and my kids may have actually been at least on if not in the turret at some point.😄  Pete Edited August 8 by PeterB

From what I've watched and read online 'Stage 1' was an open gun for testing and was considered for use, until it dawned on the designers that it might be a little exposed, hence the 'shed' on top.
Pedro52
There are a few photos of the Stage 1 version on Tank Encyclopedia, have linked instead of copying and pasting the photos. https://tanks-encyclopedia.com/coldwar/uk/fv4005-stage-i-ii/  Better make a start on this 😅, to much talking and not enough building.
Pedro52
Finally, sprues are out of the box and washed. Not used to this many parts normally stick to 1/72 tanks. Sprue on the bottom right (running gear) is one of 4. Â
