f matthews Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) Miniart's T-54/55 series is very impressive and easily the best kits of these tanks out there by a longshot. I'm working up the new Iraqi T-55 with the Enigma upgrades and it's been a beautiful build so far. Lots of fun and the only frustration is locating the sprues needed for each assembly... I don't build much post-WW2 armour, but I am kind of hooked on these. Edited August 2 by f matthews 14
Shagohod Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Great start! the only frustration is locating the sprues needed for each assembly... True. 😁 1

As you say, this isn't your usual genre, so it will be interesting to see what you do with this one. Looks good so far. John. 1
Kingsman Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Having seen the real thing, the spaced armour boxes are extremely crudely put together. Rough edges and chunky bumpy welds. Thought I had some photos but it seems not. This is an internet photo. 3

I pulled a bunch of pics from the net, but don't think anything was that clear. Thanks!
edjbartos Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Very nice Frank, one of my very favourite tanks, will defiantly watch your progress, It's going to be another cracker i think Ed 1
f matthews Posted August 8 Author Posted August 8 With most of the base hull now complete, I sprayed a basecoat on since if will be difficult to paint behind and underneath the add-on armour. 9
Muchmirth Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Oh wow, like this one a lot and would like to follow along. Paul 1
f matthews Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 The hull is complete other than the installation of wheels and tracks. This is a great kit. 10
Keeff Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I've only just looked at this project! A nice start and looks to be a very well detailed kit. I'll join the crowd and follow along ..... Keith ☺️ 1
Bullbasket Posted September 11 Posted September 11 It does look to be a great kit. Even the headlamp brush guards look to be a scale thickness. I certainly wouldn't want to try and replicate those with bent wire. Nice work Frank. John. 1 1
f matthews Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 (edited) Tires painted, lower hull weathered and roadwheels installed. Edited September 14 by f matthews 11
f matthews Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 Some turret work and one set of tracks and additional armour. 13
f matthews Posted October 6 Author Posted October 6 Enigma armour complete. Just need to add a few minor details... Doesn't look like your typical T-55 for sure. 8

Hamden Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Looking good and interested to see what you do with the weathering Roger 1
