Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Hello everyone… I used to have a friend here on the Forum that could help designing and printing decals. Sadly he’s gone awol for over a year now. I would be able to correspond and give insight to the final look of the decals. I currently do not have a printer but this will hopefully change in the future (probably by Christmas). Once I do I would still need help from time to time with the designing of decals. I do not have a computer nor the necessary artwork program's. Nor will I have one in the future. I do not have the $ or the will to watch a fourth computer commit seppuku. I do have an iPad so I could receive whatever image type is needed to print decal’s out. So if anyone knows anybody or is interested in talking about working on this please D/M me, or answer here. Dennis
Rob de Bie Posted July 31, 2024 Posted July 31, 2024 I asked a friend about this, and he mentioned that Illustrator is available for the iPad, at 10$ per month. I'm a CorelDraw person, so I find Illustrator pretty difficult to use, but your milage may vary. Here's a video showing it, with a pen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w3FXhrIo2o&ab_channel=BradColbow I'm not sure whether you want to design your decals in vector graphics (like Illustrator and CorelDraw), instead of bitmap graphics? I'm of the opinion that vector is the best choice by far - all commercial decals are designed with vector graphics. There's freeware vector software for the iPad too, but I have zero knowledge of them. You only need simple software to draw decals, Illustrator and CorelDraw can do 100 times more than you need. https://pen.tips/en-nl/blogs/blog/best-vector-drawing-apps-for-ipad Rob 1 1
Rob de Bie Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Two months later, and the first set of decals for Dennis has been delivered by the printer (SpotModel in Spain). It's a small set for a B-26 (see https://www.ww2online.org/image/b-26-bombers-flight). The duck cartoon was the most laborious part to draw, total drawing time was ~1.5 hours. You can't see it, but each decal has its own decal film Here's the full sheet, with 10+ of my own modelling projects. Rob 1 1 1
