Luke1199 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Going to be bold and throw up another build for this GB (Like I said- I've been looking forward to this one for months). I've wanted to have a crack at the AFV Club F-5 since I started the hobby and I can't see a better time to pull the trigger than now! It's the Peace Bell Program boxing but does include 2 ROCAF schemes, still undecided on whether to do the grey scheme or SEA camouflage. I have the Quinta 3D decals on the way from Hannants as well as canopy masks by Eduard. Very much looking forward to ticking off a bucketlist build! Thanks for looking in! 13 1
Col. Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Nice project Luke. That's good kit as a starting point along with some tasty additions 1
modelling minion Posted July 30 Posted July 30 These are very nice kits Luke, you will enjoy this one. Personally I would go for the older SEA scheme. 1
Luke1199 Posted August 20 Author Posted August 20 Hi all, made a start earlier on the F-5. Was late so I didn't fancy any spraying- luckily the nose is a separate module so I got the fuselage and wings built up. Going to spray the cockpit in the morning, then the Quinta decals can go in. Thanks for looking in! 7
SoftScience Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Im very interested in this project. I've been going back and forth about picking one of these kits up, so it is nice to see one getting built rather than just reading about it. 1
Luke1199 Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 More progress on the F-5- got the nose together last night. It had a few awkward panels to fit (tiny panels with 6 sprue gates each) but the fit to the fuselage was seamless! Going for the grey scheme as the second kit I ever built was a ROCAF F-5E in that scheme and it'll be fun to compare the builds, so I laid down the light ghost grey earlier. Only had the AK Interactive paint on hand as my Vallejo had turned lumpy, I have to say I may be a convert, it went down lovely. I'd tried it when I first started airbrushing but I didn't have the knowledge or finesse to thin it and spray at a lower pressure 😅 Going to try and freehand the dark ghost grey pattern, should be a nice challenge! 7 1
Col. Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Good progress Luke. You're working through this one at a cracking pace 1
Luke1199 Posted August 22 Author Posted August 22 Solid progress this morning. Sprayed the dark ghost grey freehand, tried AK paints again and it went down lovely. Also painted the metal around the exhaust and the nose cone. Going to give it a gloss and start on the decals. 9 1
Luke1199 Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Hi all, busy night laying down the decals- really nice decals with the kit, even the wing stencils went down no problem! Going to make a start on the gear and armament next, have a hasegawa weapons set which has rocket launchers so I'll add those alongside the kit missiles and tanks. Very pleased with how this one is progressing, thanks for looking in! 8 1
Col. Posted August 27 Posted August 27 You've every right to be pleased with how thus one is going Luke. Nice work 1
Luke1199 Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 Hi all, going to kick on and finish this kit off- I got distracted by my Kurnass and this ended up being shelved but as you can see not a lot of work needed to get it across the line! Just the ordinance and landing gear to go and I'll have it in the gallery. Thanks for looking in! 10
Luke1199 Posted November 17 Author Posted November 17 Hi all, last update before it goes in the gallery- fitted the gear, very straightforward assembly. Just need to fit the hardpoints and build up the ejection seat. Overall a brilliant kit. Solid fit, great decals and lovely surface detail, even picked myself up one of the AFV Club Iranian Saeqeh's to build in the future. Thanks for looking in! 9
Col. Posted November 17 Posted November 17 With a few of these in the stash it's good to read you've enjoyed the kit Luke 1

May I ask if you have the main U/C legs so that the main wheel faces inwards. If you have are you able to remove the legs and palce them so that he wheel will face outwards as it should, as I would not like it to spoil a very well built model.
