AndyK2479 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 For a WW1 diorama idea I've got, I'm looking for a French 75mm field gun in 1/35, crew figures would be an added bonus. Any recommendations? Andy
Stef N. Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Not 75mm but Das Werk do a 155mm French gun and some figures if that's any help. 1
Milan Mynar Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 If you want Schneider Mle 1897 kit, I would recommend to you IBG made kit. 3 1
Kingsman Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 IBG also offer this gun with a Polish WW2 crew. No idea whether you could adapt the uniforms. They also offer the gun in its French WW2 form with rubber tyred wheels with a French crew in WW2 uniforms. Again, no idea if these could be adapted to WW1. It also doesn't come with the original cart wheels. Das Werk offer the crew set from the 155mm howitzer separately. 5
Milan Mynar Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Here you are comparison between RPM and IBG kits. The darker one is RPM kit. url=https://postimg.cc/kVyFmnTD][/url] 1
AndyK2479 Posted July 25, 2024 Author Posted July 25, 2024 Thanks for the replies, I'll have a look at which of the options is most easily accessible. Milan, Which would you say is the less complicated build?
macctravelman Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Hi I have been looking for the "75mm Armata Polowa wz 1897 Schneider" model and I cannot find anyone that stocks this model, could you tell me where i might buy one from.
Kingsman Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Jadar Hobby in Warsaw have what seems to be all of the IBG versions with all 3 wheel types plus 1 RPM version. And the RB Model replacement aluminium gun barrel.
macctravelman Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Thanks, yes I took a look and they have it in stock.
macctravelman Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Hi Great sit but no RB Model replacement aluminum gun barrel. I assume you are talking about one for the 75mm Gun which would be great as I have 2 of the ICM examples.
Kingsman Posted February 20 Posted February 20 The US M1897 was the same weapon so that RB barrel should work but without the separate reinforcing bands which the original French gun did not have AFAIK. And you would need to swap the muzzle attachment. IIRC that was there because the muzzle could recoil back into the cradle. Or maybe as a guide for barrel changes. RBs US 75mm ammunition should be correct for that gun too, as the same ammunition was used in the M2 and M3 tank guns in WW2.
macctravelman Posted February 21 Posted February 21 sorry having re read my reply I can see that I have not been very clear, hence my confusion with contributor Kingsman's reply. What I meant to say was that the site was excellent but I could not find the RB Model replacement aluminum gun barrel. so the rest of Kingsman's reply was confusing to me but my understanding of what he was trying to say and apologies if I have got this wrong; is that there is an RB barrel, (could Kingsman attach a URL so I could find it as I clearly missed it when searching for it) but it would need modifying Kingsman seems to imply that barrel is for the US version of the M1897 gun. It's good to know that the RB ammunition that I did spot could be used for the 75mm Gun.
Kingsman Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Here it is on tha Jadar site if you're looking at buying from them. https://www.jadarhobby.pl/rb-model-35b92-135-75mm-m1897a4-barrel-for-m3-gmc-p-39655.html However, I may have inadvertently misled you a bit. This is the M1897 A4 version of the US gun with the barrel bands as used on the M2 carriage. I thought these bands were separate parts made from the etched brass parts provided, but they are actually turned as part of the barrel and therefore pretty much impossible to remove without a lathe. So probably no use for any other version of the weapon. But yes, the M1897 and M1917 field guns, M2, M3 and M6 tank guns and M5 aircraft gun all fired ammunition that looked the same in shape and size. There were some incompatibilities: for example only the later versions of the M1897 (A1-A4) field guns could use the Supercharge round.
