cobraleader
G'Day All, working on the Airfix 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22. Built straight from the box. Interior painted as per instructions. Painted the external with Gunze (H309, H306, H335) paint and masked using Tamiya tape and AK Camouflage Elastic Putty.
TeaWeasel
Good start with some nice colours laid down. How easy is the masking putty to use? Thought about getting some to use for tank camo.

Thought about getting some to use for tank camo. I’ve used it a couple times, it works ok, but the natural state is a clump so it starts shrinking as soon as it is applied. Painting needs to follow immediately after setting the masking putty. The thinner the mask outline, the faster it tries to reform.
cobraleader
yeah, heard similar stories from mates on the clumping and shrinking tendancies ... oh well, decalling ... Airfix has stencils all over this model. it felt like decalling the Tamiya F-4 phantom.
cobraleader
well ... she is finished. Unfortunately, it got damaged during transport to a local hobby show (qmhe.com) - lost the tail wheel... might buy a second kit and do an inflight version and scavage the tail wheel for this kit.
