thepureness Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 There is the first one of the surprise releases. I think we are due two more now 1
wellsprop Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Let's just take a moment to enjoy this box art! 😍 19
TheKinksFan Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) Funny that they make a big deal about the collector's coin, "once they are gone, they are gone forever" 😄.I'm pretty sure 99% couldn't care less about pins, badges or coins. What is exciting is the new mk VIII kit and that iconic scheme. Edited July 15, 2024 by TheKinksFan 4
Karearea Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) Fantastic! This will be a definite purchase. Ecstatic that scheme B is a 152 Sqn machine. Edited July 15, 2024 by Karearea 1

Could it be Mervyn Ingram’s… Where are you seeing the other schemes Karearea? It could be me, but I can't see them on the Airfix website. (I am very excited about this release!)

k7rkx Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 That USAAF scheme is a bit different than the usual Middle Stone/Dark Earth ones. 1
Threadbear Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Wonder if it will include the extended wingtips?
Captain Glumbo Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) ordered mine too with a lovely £71 in hobby points off (plus 10% club discount so another tenner) £22 delivered because I couldn't work out how to get free delivery, even adding another pre-order item just split the hobby points and I still ended up paying for delivery Edited July 15, 2024 by Captain Glumbo 1
keithjs Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Schemes here. https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AX17002?result-token=PTTAi 3

Different and unexpected... this scheme was used after 31st FG left their Spitfires for P-51s and this machine was used as a hack by the unit. A proper war veteran but represented at a time when she didn't fly in combat anymore 1 1

Bell209 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 What an awesome surprise! I've always liked the 457SQN scheme but the price is a little scary for Aussies. Still might need to get one, though... 1
Paul J Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Quite interested in this. Perhaps I can do one of the 67 Squadron ones in Burma that my late father in law worked on as an armourer courtesy of being in the RAF Servicing Commandos following his time in Normandy. Could Airfix be persuaded to re tool their retool of the Mk9of just a few years ago and do a Mk.8 too??? 2 1
FlatlandFox Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I had promised myself not to buy another Spitfire again. But I simply cannot resist to buy this one. I have always loved the Mk. VIII. I am sure you all can understand me…. 1
Admiral Puff Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Another assault on my credit card! I'm sure there will be one or two aftermarket decal sheets for this - as I've remarked elsewhere, not every RAAF Mk VIII carried a shark's mouth ...
Captain Glumbo Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I’ve only just got the other 1/24 spitfire thanks to last weeks double points and now I’ve ordered this one too. Damn you Airfix!

Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Definitely looking forward to this kit. Will wait to get them this side of the pond before ordering.
PeterR Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) Love it!! Never thought we'd see this one. Thank you Airfix! My wallet hates you though. It's getting over worked. Especially if 'Aircraft in Pixels' gives this a work over. Edited July 15, 2024 by PeterR
