PBJ-1D Mitchell, `The Six Eleven`, US Marines, New Guinea and Philippines, 1944

Howdy All,

Managed to get some photo`s yesterday of my latest effort, so thought you wouldn`t mind me subjecting you to a few

My attempt at Academy`s 1/48 PBJ kit

Which is the Accurate Minature`s B-25B,C,D kit with different decals

Thought they may have included some new parts to enable you to do a radar equipped example, but no.

Still, whilst researching the subject, found that there were a lot of `Vanilla` examples used by the Marines, so thought why not....

.....but did a slight modification to the tail gun position to represent what seemed to be a more common type used.

Apart from a few `T` shaped antenna under the rear fuselage and the tail gun is built OOB

Did leave out all of the internal parts in the rear fuselage to help keep the nose down as there`s not a lot of room for weight if you do a clear nosed example

That's a fine example!  I like the paint scheme ..... it's different, but suits the airframe.  Nice weathering .... just enough! 👌

Thanks Keith, I found a few photo`s of some very weathered examples, I was worried I hadn`t gone far enough 🙂

I got the same kit was going to do a "Twins Build" life you know.I think the weathering is just right Russ and a Nice touch at the rear gunner position.

That's exactly the right place to stop. It looks very good. Nice rendition of one of the less-modelled Mitchell variants

very impressive model and atmospheric composition! I think the weathering just looks right. Too much looks always silly on a model for my taste. Even some of them look very weathered. A matter of taste on a model. So….👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

That's a lovely scheme Russ, a bit more unusual for a B-25. Beautifully done as always!

I remember seeing one of these a few years ago at the Lone Star museum in Texas,, not sure if it is an authentic PBJ or just painted as one.
